When you were buying your dress to take to WDW/DL, did you limit yourself to getting a dress that will travel well? I don't want any restrictions when I start dress shopping!

Nope. There are many ways to travel to WDW with the dress-search out tge threads and you will find it gets addressed quite often for reasons of obvious concern! I mailed mine in a big cardboard box to carollynn Allen's and the stored, delivered and steamed my dress on the wedding day, then shopped it to my home after.

Hth

Not necessarily...I tried on dresses of every size and fabric. The fact that the dress I chose was more lightweight and wouldn't wrinkle as easily definitely were checks in the "pros" column though.

Not even a little bit.

I bought it, hung it, realized a week before the wedding that I didn't get it steamed, lugged it on the plane from Canada, and put it on the day of the wedding. We did have a little hand steamer that my mom was using literally as we walked out the door.

No, I think you should try on all different types of styles. Sometimes you might think you like a certain style of dress from looking in magazines/at other brides, but then when you go to try on dresses, you might realize that style doesn't fit your body type, etc. I say try on all different styles, even ones that you might think you wouldn't like. Once you buy the dress, then you can worry about getting it to Disney. As an above poster mentioned, there are many, many options. I am leaving in the morning for my wedding, and I actually booked a seat for my dress on the plane. It only cost me around $100, which was about the same as shipping it, and it will deff. give me the peace of mind having it right next to me. That's just one of the many options out there. HTH.

Yes and no, lol. We originally booked a cruise wedding, and I chose that dress because it would ship well and would need little steaming. When we switched to an Escape wedding, I didn't worry about shipping at all, and I chose a ruffly ball gown. We switched wedding locations less than 3 months before our wedding date, so there wasn't time to order, alter, and ship the dress down ahead of time. Southwest couldn't guarantee closet space if I brought it as a carry-on, and there was no way I was going to check it, so they wanted to me purchase a seat for it- no freakin' way! Instead, my parents decided to drive it and the rest of our breakable/fragile items down.

My dress traveled all the way from England in a box which fitted in the overhead locker of the plane!!! I booked Lori from Loftis productions to come and steam it the day before my VR and it was perfect by the time she finished!!! She also steamed DD's MOH dress (which was very crumpled as it was chiffon) and that looked good as new too!!!
