Limit on Carriage Rides?

I believe I had read where two adults and three children are allowed.

Do you think 3 adults (all small) and two children, 7 and 5 and one infant that would sit in a parent's lap would be allowed? I know we should not take up any more space than the space allowed, but are they strict on number limits for the rides? We really would like to ride together.

I really don't know the answer so it would be best to call the recreation # and ask but I'd imagine they are strict for a reason- probably safety and liability ( not to mention the comfort of the horses). :-) ---Kathy

HORSE!

Umm you are worrying neddlessly, but kindly about the horse. I compete in carriage driving and any horse can easily pull 2.5 times its body weight. The draft horses they use easily weigh 1600-1800 pounds. THey could then pull 4,000 pounds. The cart will weight aout 400#, leaving you 3600# of human weight.

Uh.....yeah, I think we would definitely be within that limit....more like a total of 500-525. :rotfl2:

Disney gets a lot of heat from tree-hugger PETA people. They are the reason they limit the trolley on main street so much. We raise Percheron draft horses. They could work all day on that light carriage and not have a problem. I would guess the limit is due to seating space.

Last THanksgiving it was me, DH, DS16, DD10 and DD7. The driver didn't blink an eye. I know they say 2 adults, 2 kids, but we fit FINE and could have fit another child, too. The horse didn't break a sweat.:rotfl:

The horse was huge. It was a Clydesdale I think.

I am not saying that the horse that took us would or would not have a problem but it was not a large draft horse either. Also the carriage itself is not all that large, and the ride is much less special with a bunch of people stuffed into the carriage, but hey to each his own I guess.

When I called last week to make a reservation for the carriage ride, I was told very specifically " only four per party are allowed"...though we only have two in our party. ;)

OK- I was just teasing about the horse ( hence the smiley face). I know they can pull quite a large load and the horses at Disney have a great life. I've seen the care they get at the stables-wow. As to exceptions, I have to think that a line must be drawn somewhere although I can see why the OP wants to have that many guests- much more fun to be together as a family.---Kathy

Just thought I would clarify since we raise draft horses. As of last year, Disney does not own any Clydesdales. They have primarily Percherons and a few Belgians. They have recently purchased more Percherons to use in the Pirate and Princess parade. Disney use to take out a six-horse hitch of Percherons to promote the company at various events but they found they get a lot of bang for your buck with the "mouse". Plus one guy in a mouse suit is easier to get around to places then six horses, harness, wagon etc.:goodvibes
