Lime Green Ribbons?

Can someone explain the Lime Green Ribbons thing?


I was over in the "who's going in August" thread and someone mentioned lime green ribbons..... what is that all about?

Can someone explain?

I found lime green ribbon at walmart if you are interested. We hang them on our luggage and belly pouches. Only saw one person with one last Christmas but I couldn't get to her. In the past few years I have never seen anyone else.

Cool... I'll have to get some Lime green ribbon for my girls Ponytails....maybe lime green laces for my sneaks...

I stuck one on my shoulder bag in May and I didn't have anyone come up to me... I also didn't see anyone with a ribbon either... Maybe I needed more lime green coloured things

At Home Depot in the Disney paint section they have paint samples in the shape of Mickey's head. There is one sample that is lime green!

When we went in April I had my lime green ribbon on my fanny pack & pool bag. I didn't see one other lime green ribbon for 2 whole weeks. I'll keep wearing it though.

Does it have to be lime green? I guess if you don't see that many people with any green ribbons. I plan on having a green ribbon but I couldn't find lime green so I just got a grassy color green.

I put my lime green ribbons on my fanny pack, my camera and the back of my hat, and quite a few people came up and said hello. It was a lot of fun, and DH and my FIL got to see that the people on these boards aren't "imaginary friends"!

I even met a few people when we cruised on Wonder that same week. I'm already planning my ribbons for this December!

I joined this board back in 1999 and remember when the topic of ribbons first came up. Lime green was chosen because everyone wanted to make sure that it wouldn't be confused for any other reason (you know, pink for Breast Cancer Awareness, etc.).

So, Lime Green it was!! Although if you can't find it, I'm sure if you use a light color green and are spotted by anyone from the DIS, you'll be asked about it. I've read lots of stories where DIS folks approached someone who had green hair ribbons, etc., but the person had never heard of DIS, LOL !!

The Mickey Heads from the Home Depot are really cool . . . I got a bunch in lots of colors, but don't know yet what I'm gonna do with the ones that aren't lime green. Just felt this compulsion to get them!!!

It doesn't have to be a ribbon. TalkingHands (aka Lisapooh) has a lime green backpack with her name on the back), and I've seen several DISers with lime green mickey heads (laminated paper or plastic), lime green hats/visors, and lime green shirts.

Every time I've seen someone with one on, I've said hello (except for one time, when I noticed the green mickey heads after I noticed the angry facial expressions and unkind words... when you identify yourself as a member of a group, you should always be on your best behavior, lest the whole group will be thought of as uncouth.)

When I was there the end of May, I wore a Mickey head pin on my shirt every day, and a couple of days, a lime green ribbon on my Minnie Mouse ears. I was forturnate enough to meet 2 other DISers!! Also had a few cast members ask me about the Mickey head pin. In the Christmas shop at the Market Place, one CM wanted to know where I had gotten my pin. She said someone had seen this green Mickey head pin and wanted to buy one! I told her I had made mine and what it stood for. Very cool

I just went to Walmart to get my lime green ribbon today. They didn't have any lime green ribbon at my local Walmart but they did gave lime green yarn, so I got that instead. I plan to put it on my fanny pack.

So if anyone is in the world June 15-21 and sees me with my lime green yarn, come on up and say Hi!

Do you just make it a pin and pin it on or what. I will go get some I was just wondering what you are doing with the to sow them off. I am slso thinking about making a Filmo lime green micky head, you know just 3 balls together and a pin in the back. then I can have it on no matter what.

I went to Home Depot and picked up 6 of the Lime Green Mickey head swatches, (just in case I messed up).

Then I made them into buttons. This way I can put one on my hip pack, one on the backpack, and one on the cap I intend to buy when I get to POR.

The extra's I am going to hang on to and pass them out to any felow DISer who is kind enough to say hello.

DD & I took the Mickey head paint swatches and the business size self-laminating sheets and made lanyard cards to go on the end of our lanyard.

We also made pins out of them. We found that one of the regular Behr paint swatches (two colors to a sample) was the same color as one of the Mickey paint heads. We made a smaller version of the head and used that for the pin.

I might look for green shoe laces for our shoes for our next trip. DH might think we are strange, but he is finally seeing how much info we are getting off the Disboards.

BTW if you see two people in line for a ride blowing bubbles, that might be DD & I. We bought Catch-a-bubbles to take to the park. It amuses the little ones when they start getting bored.

If anyone doesn't have a Home Depot (heaven forbid) near them, just give us a PM and we can pick some up. We found two different colors in the Mickey heads, both close to lime green.

Great! I'll get some to wear in February 2004 when our 8th Grade Musical Theatre group is performing for Mickey!
