Lime Green Ribbon?

I go all the time and can't wear LIME GREEN EVERY day. I try to have my plastic LIME GREEN "ears" on my purse or fanny pack. When I have clean LIME GREEN.

It was just to hard to wear the ribbon. It wore out hahahhaahha.
Approach anyone if you ask them if they are a part of the DIS and they look at you odd, just realize they will never see you again, if they do they won't recognize and IF they do recognize you, they likely won't ask you what you meant. AND IF THEY DO you have the chance to introduce someone new to our wonderful boards.

If they DO know what you mean, you've met a friend you will take back home with you and be able to see regularly on our boards!

LOOK!! STOP !! ASK!!

I had and wore proudly a green DIS pin with my screen name made especially for ME by Meriweather!! I thought it was awesome!! It screamed DIS, but no one said anything:( but I wore it anyway. However at some point during that Dec. trip it was lost and I didnt realize it was gone until I got home.

Yes we get strange looks, but sometimes we just whisper that we are going again. We are a perfect example of what happens when you buy AP's. To somewhat justify we went last April for 10 days so we bought the AP's, then decided a December trip since the airfare was still decent and we had the AP's. Well in Feb. DH and I flew down for 3 days to look at vacation homes and snuck in for one day alone w/out kids, thanks again to the AP. We just renewed them for this trip, it falls just one week short but thats ok. Technically it will be 1 year and 1 week for the 4th trip. Since we just renewed the passes what do you think the next year will hold?

Philaround, we will be there the same week you are :D Who knows, if we both wear our 'green' maybe we will meet. Now I just need to get to Wal-Mart to get mine :bounce:

Hi Disneyfreak43 and Tinktwins,
I'll have to look out for some lime green ribbon, although knowing me, I'll leave it behind or something. But I really will try and wear one. I'm at the Dolphin over Easter too with DH, DS (9) & DD (5). We're the ones with a British accent! But I'd love to meet some fellow DIS-ers - I've had such a fun time on these boards, and got some really great tips.

Hi TINKTWINS and Gilligan! We will surely keep our eyes and ears open for fellow DISers at the Dolphin! We will be a lively group of 8, as we are traveling with another family this time. The kids are 13-16 yrs. old, and are big Disney fans! TINKTWINS, I think you need to try and break your record ; maybe 5 trips this year?

Okay, we'll be there April 11-26 & I'm going to be "wearin' the green" - even if the rest of my party thinks I'm nuts. I already have 3 ribbons cut & in the bag!!

1 for my fanny pack for the parks
1 for the beach bag to take the pools & water parks
1 extra

I'll be keeping my eyes open for more green.

Just a little note. While I am more likely to wear lime green clothing. I will share something with you all I did when I first joined the DIS mid 2000. I bought more ribbon than I needed so I bought a package of safety pins. I tied each ribbon in a perfect little bow, sealed the ends so they wouldn't ravel and then I hot gun glued them to the safety pins.

As I introduced people at the parks to our wonderful boards I gave them a ribbon to wear. I was sort of an unofficial ambassador for Pete and the DIS.

BTW the way I learned of the boards is by people coming and asking me if I was "on the DIS" I carried my keys on a lime green wrist bracelet, which hung from a zipper on my pouch. If so many brave people had not asked me if I was a DISer, I would NEVER have finally asked someone what it was and why everyone kept asking me that.

Now after 3 years, 1100+ posts, I never hesitate to ask people. If they aren't a member they probably want to be. :)

Living this close I don't get to savor the thought of my next trip by packing so I find little things like this to do.

Allie,
Our family will be camping at FW June 21 - July 6. Maybe we'll see you!

Philaround and JustMinnie,
DH & I will be celebrating our 20th anniversary (without kids!) May 24 - June 1. Maybe we'll see you too!

Meriweather,
What did you make the pin out of? I met a nice group of DIS ladies last April on the boat from EPCOT to Boardwalk and they were all wearing homemade DIS pins. They were really cute, and a good idea, because I noticed them right away, but didn't notice their green ribbons at all (of course it was night, so it was dark). I'm thinking maybe that foam you buy in sheets? It comes in all colors.

The buttons I make are 2 1/2" round pins.
Badge-a-matic is one brand.
I use bright green paper to print DIS and a user name on.
They are noticable. We got asked quite a bit what they were  People just don't "get" it :teeth:

I'll have to see if I have any pictures.

I have given aways about 50 of them, so they are out there. :)
TINKTWINS..........sorry you lost yours. :(
I will get a new one in the mail to you. I need to make a couple of more anyway.

Nancy you are too sweet! Thanks:p

DF43 and Gilligan Ill be on the lookout! We also are a large group traveling with another family, 10 in all! Will you be doing the Easter egg hunt? Look for us then!!

Hi Tinktwins,
No we won't be doing the egg hunt. Don't feel we can spare the day to spend at the hotel. Probably going to BB - definitely not MK;) We'll need to recover from the colossal amount it's costing to meet Peter Rabbit / Easter bunny that morning. Haven't told my DH about that yet. I feel a bit of creative accounting coming on.

Ok, I need some help with translation. Somebody mentioned making DIS buttons and pins. In the UK, buttons are what do shirts up, and pins are sharp pointy things that for example you can use to pin paper to wood, or to tack a dress. I thought I'd got the American meaning sussed ("badge"), but now I've seen the two together, I'm confused!

I thought I'd be creative and make a lime ribbon bow, and somehow embroider 'DIS' in the middle. I was about to say it'd be something to pass the time on the flight over, but I've just remembered, the airlines won't let me have a needle on board, will they?

:(

A badge would be a good way to describe them. We call them pins and buttons, but they are the same thing as badges. I know it must be confusing since most of our words have numerous meanings. Buttons are also what fastens a shirt and a pin is also a sharp pointy thing.

TINKTWINS-- We won't be doing the egg hunt either, my kids are 13 and 16. We are spending a few days at Cocoa Beach before coming to the Dolphin Easter. We hope to pull in about 9 AM, however our friends we are meeting up with (they are sharing their teacher discount!), won't get there until noon. Do you think the Dolphin will hold our luggage for a few hours while we start exploring? I picked up a few kinds of green ribbon the other day-- plan to tie it to everything we own-- hopefully we get recognized!

DF43 this will be our first stay at the Dolphin but im sure they hold luggage. Most of the resorts do. You may even get lucky and have a room ready early for you too, you just never know. Weve been lucky at POR and the Poly that our room was ready when we got there. But the day we had to check out our flight was much later and the Poly held our luggage for us, they were fantastic. So im sure you will have no problems.

You can bet that I at least, and maybe my DD and youngest DS will be wearing our lime green! You all have provided so much great info! Just love this board!

I wore mine this past week and in November 02 but did not see any other ribbons:( I will even wear mine to Disneyland in July:)
