I really like her! I saw her on SNL awhile ago and had never heard of her before but I liked her. I asked DH for the CD for my birthday so he better deliver or I'll have to break out the clamp!

I'm amazed she's going down so well across the pond, most of her songs are really London based, lots of 'local' jargon etc.

Amy Winehouse is the next on my list to download! I think she's being featured on iTunes this week.

London is my favorite city in the world, so maybe that's why I'm digging Lily Allen right now.

I heard Amy Winehouse the other night for the first time and I liked the Rehab song but I wasn't sure about the others I heard. I'm going to have to listen more.

My husband is Canadian and a lot of terms I never would have known if I hadn't lived there with him. I have seen other things here on the DIS from UK neighbors. Like Tesco. I assumed it was a grocery store and then I saw someone post about it.

I'm currently listening to Alfie (which I love). Funny this thread should pop up.

Amy too is quite 'London' its cool you like that sort of thing, and you're right with the Tesco thing, grocery stores all over the country, not really walmart, maybe a bit more 'Publix' like?

look up some Natasha, she's a bit more 'girly' but has some really good lyrics.

Its quite nice i guess that some of our chart regulars are having success in the USA, we're inundated with US singers in our charts.

Snow Patrol is pretty big here. Chasing Cars was used in a big Grey's Anatomy episode and the song exploded. They have a new song out here now but I can't remember the name.

Bumping this thread... Lily's latest album, It's Not Me, It's You, has hit the stores. The single, The Fear, has been out since December, and it's really good. I also like Everyone's At It, Not Fair and Him.
