How does one go about getting a ride on the Lilly Belle? Do you have to have a "connection?" I have a lunch reservation at Club 33 one day; is this one of the perks?

If its running, go to a CM at the Main Street Station and ask if you can ride it. If they have enough staffing, they will tell you what time to come back and ride. It's a lot of fun. We did it at Christmas a couple of years ago.

My best advice is to go to the Main Street Station as early in the day as you can and ask a CM if the Lily Belle is running that day. If so, I would let them know you are a guest at Club 33. As far as I know, only the member is entitled to a ride, but it can't hurt. If she is running and they have space, they will give you a time to return.

She fills up fast, we tried a few visits ago around noon to get a reservation and she was booked. The next time we went there first thing and already two people had made a reservation! Anyway, if you make it on, ask for your ticket (great keepsake) and be sure to sign the guestbook. I would get there earlier than suggested to get on first and take pics solo. Our CM was very knowledgable about all the trains at DLR, WDW, and the overseas parks. I learned a lot.

Congrats on your Club 33 ressie, it is truly a special place.:goodvibes

Great advice but it is the LILLY Belle - I have strong feelings on this as my DD is also a Lilly - it's spelled like silly - I don't get the Lily spelling at all, it's pronounced Lil ly not Li ly :confused3

I'd really like to take my Lilly on the LB this Thanksgiving - gotta remember to give it a try.

You are correct. It is Lilly Belle. I have a sister named LILY, so it is hard for me to spell it the other way! :rotfl:

ETA: I believe my parents named her after the flower, which is spelled LILY.

I went to city hall on my solo trip this past september and asked if there was any way I could ride the Lilly Belle since I noticed she was on the track. The cast member was really nice and said "of course! let me just see if we have spots available" (the only allow a few people per ride as to not over crowd the historic car). Sadly the train spots were full for the day and it was my last day at the park, otherwise he said he could mark my name down for the next day :( I'll be going next time on the first day and asking right away! I did take some photos and the train cast member was nice enough to let me step into the entry way of the Lilly Belle and take a photo of the inside :o)

Thanks everyone for your tips and suggestions. I arrive on Wednesday, and my Club 33 reservation isn't until Sunday, so I have a few days to saddle up to Those Who Have the Power. And besides, I'm half-Sicilian!

How cool would it be to ride the Lilly Belle and depart at New Orleans Square before our Club 33 reservation? :cool2:

That would be cool, but the Lilly Belle is a round trip ride only. No departures/arrivals midway. Sorry :(. But you could ride all the way around and then get back on the regular part of the train and depart NOS. :)

Very much so, but it won't happen. Riding in the Lilly Belle requires a circle tour.

The first two replies that say go ask at MS station and do it early is what you really need to know to ride the Lilly Belle.

You're right that is how the flower's spelled ~ either way I think it's a beautiful name, I just went with my preferred spelling :flower3:

And the ride from Main Street to NOS is so short, you won't get to enjoy the Lilly Belle anyway. Even though it is supposed to be round trip, we did see a group of people get off in NOS the first time we rode in it. It was a large group and then our family. When we got to NOS, the group all stood up and said they had a dinner reservation and had to leave. We just looked at each other like "huh" since they had such a short trip. The CM did allow them to get off (I'm guessing they are more strict about telling people in advanced now that they have to stay on the whole way). We didn't mind since we had the whole car to ourselves for the rest of the trip :thumbsup2

We were fortunate to ride her last week. I asked the conductor who was standing in the station if there was room and we had a 'reservation' for 2pm. Once we arrived back at the train station, we were actually able to ride on the 1:45p train with 8 other people. It was fun, but we had a young conductor who started out giving us info on what she was made out of, some history of the Lilly Belle, and short facts like that. Then she got involved in a conversation with another guest about flip flops and that was the end of our 'talk'. I was disappointed to say the least and we did not get our 'tickets' nor sign the guest book. Guess we'll be doing a return engagement next March and hopefully will get a conductor who will give us more history and information as opposed to what flip flops are the best.

You can also ask at City Hall (they'll call up to the station for you) if you can't find a conductor to ask at the train station or, as has happened to me before, if you don't want to bug the CM because they are being harassed, for the lack of a better word, in an unpleasant manner by another customer (I didn't want to risk being on the same trip as that other customer anyways).

Even if it's completely booked, you can still go wait and see. When I was at Disneyland last July, my mother, her friend, and I managed to get on the last trip of the day because some people did not show up on time (the other people on the trip were all part of one group who had already ridden a couple of times before on that day and the people who didn't show up were their friends who thought that a third time would be overkill).

Remember that the Lilly Belle does not run if there is a risk of inclement weather (i.e. it won't be out if it's raining or predicted to rain).

It's not linked to Club 33 ressies. Anyone can request to ride the Lilly Belle. If it's available and there's space, they will say yes. :goodvibes

This is not true. Anyone can ride the Lilly Belle if your timing is lucky enough. It is not limited to Club 33 members (or guests for that matter).

FWIW, at least you got to ride the Lilly Belle. That's much more than many.

My Lilly Belle adventures:
I have asked MANY times to ride the Lilly Belle.

Every time have been one of the following, for YEARS:
- She is not out that day
- She was just put away
- There were not enough cast members to accommodate
- No more space
- Or... One specific time: We were a big group. We got a time. We came back. They were delayed. We were asked to wait two more trips. I had to leave for work. All of the others in our group (including my DH who had no interest in Lilly Belle) rode about 10 minutes later. :sad1:

Someday....

Yes, but what I meant, I should have been clearer, is that a Club 33 member is supposed to be allowed onto the Lilly Belle if she is running that day. That is one of the perks. Guests of Club 33 and regular park goers are only allowed as room and space permit. So if a member of Club 33 approaches Main St and a regular guest, the Club 33 member would definitely get on. The regular Joe would have to see if there was still space. :)

I am going to make it one of my goals to ride on her when we visit in February!
I love period rolling stock.

My family of four had the opportunity to ride the Lilly Belle with a personal tour guide who was very knowledgeable and kind - it was private until a whole bunch of tourists also got to climb aboard, but it was such a wonderful experience!! We asked at the train station, and were able to ride - other times, (we try to get out there once a year for the past 5 years now) it wasn't running, or was booked, etc. but for whatever reason we lucked out that one time. We feel it was a once in a lifetime experience for us, and won't try to ask to ride the Lilly Belle again I don't think, (out of respect for that once in a lifetime opportunity) but wow, how awesome it was. I hope all of you who want to ride the Lilly Belle also get your opportunity one day! :goodvibes
