Hi, everyone!
We're just a bit more than a week out from our trip, so I thought to myself, "Self, maybe it'd be cool for us to do one of those dining reviews/reports that we so enjoy reading!" And then I said, "Self, that's a fine idea! Though I'm not sure I can be half so entertaining as some of my fellow board members. But I'll give it a go!"
So here we are. First, a bit of an introduction:
I'm Lilly, the Lills half of LillsnJills, and 40 years old (how the HELL did THAT happen?? I don't FEEL 40....). That's me on the left here. Jill, the other half of the LillsnJills equation, is 36, and is my partner in life as well as my partner in crime. We're both foodies and fairly adventurous, with me being a bit more so than she is (usually). We're both game to try anything once, and love trying new international cuisines. (EDIT TO ADD: While we love trying international cuisines, we have very easy access to fantastic Moroccan, Scandinavian, Japanese, Italian and Mexican foods where we live, that's why there's no Teppan Edo, Marrakesh, Akershus, or any of the other popular places in World Showcase).
I'm calling this a Disneymoon (of sorts) because while we're not legally *married*, we have been in a Registered Domestic Partnership since February of 2009. And though we've taken other trips since then, none of them felt terribly "honeymoon-y". So we're considering this trip our honeymoon
So! Introductions out of the way, let me tell you a bit about our upcoming vacation, and, more to the point, our ADRs and the places we'll be reviewing!
We will arrive at Animal Kingdom Lodge (Jambo House) early on Friday, September 21st, after catching a red-eye from LAX to MCO, and we'll depart on the 28th. We'll be dropping our stuff at the hotel before 9am and heading to MK until we get a notification our room is ready. We had already booked our room with no discount when we got a notice that free dining would be available during our stay. Being at a deluxe property, we were given a choice of the QSDP or DDP for free, or upgrade to the DxDP for around $425. Knowing that there were a LOT of signature places we wanted to try, we opted for the upgrade, since just the signature meals alone will more than pay for the upgrade
:
For the eight days we'll be on property, we have 9 ADRs, 5 of which are for signature restaurants. The rest of the time we'll be doing CS (though I'm PRAYING that we can squeeze into 'Ohana on the 24th. Not been able to find an available opening though). Our dining plan is as follows:
9/21: Arrival Day
Breakfast - either grab something at the airport or stop by Mara before heading to MK for a while.
Lunch: Columbia Harbor House
Dinner - Boma
9/22: At Animal Kingdom
Breakfast: CS at the Mara, Tamu Tamu Refreshments or Pizzafari (possibly just using snack credits, as I'm sure we'll still be full from Boma)
Lunch: Yak & Yeti (TS, not CS)
Dinner: Jiko
9/23: At Epcot (focusing on the front half, with maybe a jaunt through WS)
Breakfast: Either Mara or Sunshine Seasons
Lunch: TBD, probably somewhere in WS since a lot of front of park options seem weak.
Dinner: Citricos
9/24: At Magic Kingdom ALLLLLL DAAAAY
Breakfast: Main Street Bakery
Lunch: Liberty Tree Tavern
Dinner: 'Ohana
9/25: At Epcot (focusing on the World Showcase)
Breakfast: Mara
Lunch: Biergarten
Dinner: Le Cellier
9/26: Hollywood Studios
Breakfast: Mara or Starring Rolls
Lunch: Totally playing this by ear. We have an early ADR for dinner.
Dinner: Hollywood Brown Derby - Fantasmic!Dining Package
9/27: Downtown Disney
Breakfast: Boma
Lunch: Cooke's of Dublin or Earl of Sandwich (if we're even hungry after Boma)
Dinner: Raglan Road
9/28: Departure Day
Animal Kingdom
We have no specific plans for eating this day. Part of me wants to go to Epcot for the soft open of F&W, but we'd only have like 3 hours tops, and that doesn't seem like enough to really enjoy it. Plus that'd only give us one day at Animal Kingdom. So we'll stick closer to "home".
So... there we have it! I've intentionally left off the snacks because at least some will probably be used for breakfasts and the others... well, there's just too many choices for snacks! Going to go with what sounds good at the moment (though there WILL be more than one stop at Karamell-Küche and the Boulangeri. And Dole Whips. And... and... and....).
I'll get as many photos as I can of what we order - I assume CMs are use to this even in the signature places and won't be all
about it.
Thanks for reading!
