Liki Tiki...

My dh and I went to Liki Tiki on November 17 and stayed till the 25...

We were in 1200 building and we were surprised about the place itself.. After reading all the mixed reviews I was happy with the Liki Tiki...

We had a one bedroom condo.. Top floor (by the way we could see the fireworks from the balcony) It had a bathroom, kitchen (everything you needed in a kitchen to make dinner, lunch and or breakfast even cocktails.

It had a living room / dining room combo which was perfect for dh and I..

We even enjoyed the lagoon... and shipwreck sallys.. We didnt care for the way they play bingo there 1.00 per card / game we got phone calls but only to tell us what was going on that day.. Not once asked about timeshare or the tour...

We thought the complimentary breakfast was good... The other pools we ok but we liked the lagoon area better...

The lake there was somewhat dirty- I hope they clean it out ....

One morning we saw the turtle by the lake which was kinda cool..

We really enjoyed it...

we are owners and enjoy our time when we stay . What we dont like is the breakfast, we are happy with what we currently have but the high pressure sales pitch is annoying, we shut our salesman up when we told him that we were happy with what we have and werent interested in any other deals, his whole demeanor changed upon hearing this our breakfast came to an abrupt end (thank God). On the day we endure the breakfast,we usually plan on going to DTD and other shopping along the strip (192) or the new Wal Mart.
I have read posts from people who stay only on Disney property that they will not stay anywhere else,it has its misgivings just like anyplace but we really do enjoy Liki Tiki, when we go to Disney the commute does not take that long, the longest it has taken to get to the front gate was not even 20 minutes. Last spring when we stayed there was a sign telling everybody to stay away from the lake as a gator had taken up residence, we were looking forward to doing the paddle boats that trip during our resort day oh well there are other trips.

We will be staying there in March for the first time. Can you tell me what the continental breakfest included? Also is there a grocery store near by? Any good resturants for a family you would reccomended also near by? How are the drinks at Ship Wreck Sallys? Are the prices reasonable and what time is it open till during the week? Finally is there a blender provided in your kitchen? Thanks for all the help!

We didn't do the breakfast when we stayed there, figured it was a sales pitch. There's a big new Publix about 2 min. west from Liki Tiki turnoff on 192 and just west a little further take the exit for 27 north and there's a SuperWalmart near the exit on the right. We liked it ok when we were there. The water park pool is good for kids.

My family just returned from a week at the Liki Tiki Village. We were very skeptical because we had stayed there in 2005 and it was awful. I believe we stayed in the 200 building. I made sure to request a newer building.

We were given building 700. Now 700, 800 & 900 are not the NEWEST buildings but they are on the NEWER side. Our accomadations this time around were 100 % better. Our room overlooked the lagoon where the paddle boats are.

The newest buildings are 1000,1100 & 1200.

Shipwreck Sally's was pretty decent. We mostly got beer. We did order food from the bar. Mostly fries and burgers and stuff. They have a pretty good drink menu and whatever you don't see on there they will attempt to make. Our bartender was Mike and he was extremely nice. Even gave us a beer on the house one day after my DH had lost his credit card. BTW, my DH found his credit card. Someone had turned it into security. The whole staff there was very nice and friendly.

Shipwreck Sally's stays open about an hour after the pool closes down. The pool was closing at 6-6:30pm. But that's because it was dark by then. I'm assuming it stays open alot later in the summer time.

Can you tell me how long of a Drive it is from Likki Tikki to Disney? Also, we are booked in the 1100 building - do you know if that is by the pool?

We are just back from a 4 day 3 night stay and really enjoyed it! We were in building 1200 and was across the parking lot from the water park. Our unit had a blender and I believe all the new ones have screened in back porches. I heard from the top floor you can see the fireworks at night. We were too tired to stay up that late to see if that was true!! Enjoyed our stay but not the timeshare presentation!!

We were there in February and had a great time. We had two adjoining units in the 1200 building. Everything was clean and new it was just a little "unfinished". Our unit must have originally had a glass shower door because the track was still there but it had a shower curtain instead. I had to keep reminding the kids to be very careful getting in and out of the shower. There also weren't any hooks in the bathrooms or the bedrooms. Very minor complaint. Location was great about 15 minutes to Disney but we never did make a rope drop. The AKL construction was actually very close not sure if there is any kind of back way. We shopped at Publix and there is a 7-11 for gas and ice ect. right at the entrance. The kids loved the pool area and participated in some of the activities. Food was also good from Shipwreck Sally's as well as the cocktails. But, they did close pretty early on all nights of our stay except for Superbowl Sunday. Have a great time.

Does anyone know if the tour is OPTIONAL? I can get a really good deal for a week on this property, but it makes it sound as if I have to sit through the presentation for the price. Will they charge us more or withhold benefits if we choose not to take the tour or if we don't meet their criteria?

I booked through Islandone site a few years ago and didn't have to do a time share presentation, but read the fine print and make sure. They did call and invite us to a breakfast the next day but we said no thanks. No one bothered us again. They may call and tell you what's happening around the pool etc.

Becareful... they will charge you full price ... you have to do the tour...
