Likelihood of table for 5, when booked for 4 at Cali Grill

OK, I should have listened to my better judgement. On New Years day I had originally booked for 6, then when my parents said they were delaying their trip for a few days so they wouldn't join us for New Years, I changed the ressie for 4. I wouldn't have done this except it was at California Grill.

Now my mom said she is coming... I've had to rebook her, flights and all!

But my question is, if we show up with 5 for a 4 seating ressie, will they penalize me if they can't seat us? I have a back up ressie, just in case, but I don't want to leave my mom out of New Years dinner... even if she did cancel on me originally!

I you cancel within one day of your ADR at the California Grill you will be charged $20 per person. If you can't be seated because you have increased your party size, that still counts as not making your ADR, and you will be charged the fee. It would be your family's choice not to keep that ADR, so you would still be liable for the fee.

I really think you need to try to change this ADR to fit your new party size, or you need to cancel it. Otherwise you are taking a huge chance and I have to beleive it very unlikely that they will be able to fit another person in on New Years Eve. Tough choice.

Thanks for the response! I did get ressies at The Wave for our party of 5. And it makes my cost conscious sister happy too as the meals are about a third of the price.
