So I setup a waitlist for a studio and one for a one bedroom at GC in June for a Wed and Thursday night. Has anyone had any recent experience with wait lists at GC? Just rating to see if it's a lost cause or a real possibility.

It's not terrible but far from guaranteed of course. I just cancelled some studio nights for June yesterday. Asking for 2 waitlists though? I think the odds get a lot greater.

Mid week, there is a chance, especially for just one or two days. At least normally there is, but with the glitches they have had with the overbooking, who knows.

In addition to WL, try to stalk RAT as often as you can, I have seen single nights pop up once in a while. It's more difficult if you are trying a string a few nights together.

Is this due to June? I guess my dreams of a 4 day in the summer is not happening

It’s all the time-there are what, 43 totally dvc units at the Grand, so availability is always very tight if you don’t own there. It definitely can bappen, especially if you’re flexible on your dates or can be spontaneous.

In 2018, I got three 1 night waitlists for a studio starting about 2 months out. I already had a cash reservation at PP for Sunday to Thursday nights. I planned to stay at an airport hotel Friday night before my Saturday morning flight. Then I saw that DCA was open late on Friday. So I decided to waitlist Friday night. Got it pretty quick. So then I waitlisted Thursday, that came through. Then Wednesday, that came through less than a month out. I was out of points, so that was it. I called Member Services to combine them.

It was more of an issue getting PP to drop the 2 nights. They wouldn’t do it in advance, I had to drop at checkin. Since it was room only, I only paid 1 night in advance.

3-4 days studio. I am thinking Nov (Jersey week) would be the best chance.
I'd say you have a 50% chance of snagging 2 nights in a studio. You might have similar odds of grabbing 3 nights in a 1BR unit. I think the chances of 4 nights in a studio are very, very low.

FWIW, "Jersey Week" doesn't play in CA. (Nobody in CA will understand what that means or why it makes a difference in anything.)

Jersey week is the 1st week of Nov where schools are off so tons of vacation

50% is eh but I got a shot

I get it ... only because I read the Disboards. I understand that Jersey Week impacts FL destinations. But really, it makes no impact to CA ... which might play favorably into your search? (Good luck to both you and the OP. I hope you both get what you are looking for!)

I called member services yesterday to ask them a question about linking reservations and checked on my two one-night waitlists. I had actually started walking trying to get five nights in a row at eight months and was doing well until I hit the snag of memorial day weekend being so busy and was not able to move my reservation any after that. So I had like the second and fourth night booked and I needed the first and the third nights. I found out yesterday when I called that they had both been gotten, but just needed to be matched up. They did it for me on the phone yesterday so I was elated. I now have June 5 and June 7. So it can happen! I’m so glad to have my plans set and no longer checking multiple times during the day only to be disappointed, LOL. Now if Disneyland would just open up the believe keys again, we could be all set.
