Liked CSR but am thinking of a change

Is there any consensus as the "best" or "worst" as far as other moderate resorts go?

Anyone think AKL is worth the upgrade price wise?

PO for another moderate to try - I like POR - other like POFQ - personally taste...

AKL - I don't know - I am staying here for the first time in July - I will tell you after that stay....

We LOVED the Boardwalk. The location, the service, and the rooms. Sorry I have never stayed at the AKL, and I don't know why I felt I had to tell you this, but you won't be sorry if you stay there! We would all the time if we could afford it all the time!

Deluxe resorts have queen size beds as compared to double beds at the moderates. At AKL(except Mara) and WL and Contemp. you do not have to go outside for the restaurants(not a biggie plus for some). For me, if I have to share a bed, the queen size beds are a big plus.

Moderates - Love CSR and POR, we are repeats and rate them high. We have only walked/eaten at POFQ. Pool was too "young" for our kids and resort too quiet for us. We like alittle more activity. CBR - never again !

AKL - another of our favorites. Wonderful. Yes, it is much nicer than staying at the moderates..........but I have never spent alot. $119 for standard bumped to savannah and $160 for pool view, didn't think it was worth the extra and will go standard again. We scheduled hotel days there, much to see, do, eat and we were really not in our room much even when at the hotel.

If you can get a good rate at AKL - do it, otherwise I would give POR a try, or CSR

cbr-also never again. actually liked asmu much more. the service at cbr was very bad, and alot of stops for the buses.

We really did not enjoy the Carribean Beach either...well at least not as much as POR.

Its a personal thing really. I love the theming or Poly, CSR and CBR. I can't convince myself to stay at POR or WL. If I want foresty like trees I'll stay in Wisconsin. I'm going to Florida to get away from that.

Ames: I also think WL is too much like home to inspire me to stay there, but I don't feel that way about POR. We've stayed there 4x & think it has a great "old south" feel to it. Love that it is so spread out, too. Staying at CSR for the 3rd time in April--really love that place!
Mrtomorrow: I think POR is a great choice if you want to try something new.

Never again CBR for us with small kids. We like CSR or POFQ better! Of course AKL is the greatest! We chose this last Aug over a mod. since the rate was so low at $119/night. There are advantages of staying at AKL, IMO. I'd go for the deluxe if you can afford the rate and are going to spend time at the resort. We do spend time at pool and eat so many meals at the resort, so AKL was worth it for us.

I'm sorry I can't help you with moderate recommendations but just wanted to say I love your name "mrtommorrow". That is one of DS and my favorite little Disney-isms!

Its funny how everyone has different opinions. We loved CBR. We requested and got Martinique building 25 and it was great. We were right in front of a beach and only a building away from Port Royale. A few bus stops, yes, but we didn't mind that just got off when it was our turn. We were traveling with a huge double stroller and would often wait for the next bus so we could be the first ones on and never had to wait more than 5 minutes. My then 3.5 year old liked the pool well enough, but I'm looking forward to the one at POFQ.

I would definately stay at CBR again. I'll have to report back on FQ.

I think it's funny about the posts saying "never again" blah blah hotel. IT'S DISNEY!!! I'm sure if someone else was paying your way, you'd stay. Sorry, I just find it funny.
We've never stayed at AKL, but did spend an evening there, having dinner, walking the grounds, and finding hidden Mickeys. It's nice, but you have to be into that themeing.
We've stayed at POFQ and CBR for moderates and really enjoyed both.

Yeah, I liked CSR a lot too. It holds a weird place in my life because while on vacation there with my parents a few years ago, my dad had a mild heart attack in the room. He ended up needing emergency quadruple bypass surgery the next morning. Thankfully, everything went great and he's doing better than ever now. But the cast members were really helpful to my mom and I during our time there. My fiance and I went back there last summer for the first time since, and had an amazing time (minus Hurricane Charlie).

4DisneyfansinNC - I don't understand why you think it is funny when someone says they won't stay somewhere again. People come on here to ask opinions and it is up to them to sort what is important to them. There are lots of folks who stay at other resorts and say the same thing. When I am going to WDW and am paying good money for my resort experience (I stayed at CBR rack rates) then I do expect Disney quality. We did not get that at CBR, and many of our issues still exist. There are so many choices and we have always had good experiences at all the other resorts (although ASMu was alittle noisy with cheerleaders ), why would I go back to a resort that did not meet expectations. The chances of someone paying for my room aren't very good, and even if they offered I would still ask to switch it to another moderate. My vacation time is valuable to me, we enjoy our resort time, we LOVE Disney World , and they have SO many choices to offer.......so never again CBR for our family.
