First of all, that is exactly how I feel at AK. Like there's supposed to be something that I should be doing, but mostly I'm just wandering!!:lmao:

My guess was going to be Kona, but since you nixed that one I guess I'll go with POR Riverside Food Court.

Goodness, I'm being complimented left and right.

Thank you, Liesa, for creating a clue that led people to me. :lmao:

I desperately hope that it is a park that grows on me. I've read a ton about the backstory, and the hidden magic there, so I think now that I know some of that it will "come alive" for me.

Yup, Kona was like number #1 or #2. So, that one is out.

Goodness, I'm being complimented left and right.

You deserve it! I only pimp for the best. ;)

Now that's a pretty funny visual!! Sounds like you need some better diapers!

Pretty good research method- you should get that patented. :lmao:

Keep thinking!! I think you can get this one!!

No I can't !!! I've searched the menus for what I though was the clue and NADDA as in NOFFING!!!:rotfl2:

A afeared you'd be a sleepy head this morning! I can totally relate! While my guests were here, I went to bed at 3:00 AM 3 nights/mornings in a row!! Yeah, where did I check my brain in??!!

Even strong coffee doesn't help that kind of stupidity! I ended up getting sick for a couple days. Nothing major, just my body screaming, "STOP IT!"

Ok I was not up THAT late! lol. Still.

I hope AK grows on you. A little FOLT, a little TOL, some EE and a drink at the Dawa bar and I'm thinking you might feel different!

I'm also thinking not being there with 5 kids by yourself will change your perception immensely!

Yeah, I can see how that would take time. BUT 5 MONTHS? :scared1: Then now, I can really see that getting back is no hurry, really. If one or even 2 months is n't going to speed it up, then why put them through the stress of move AND school?

My best friend has been going through the IEP process since the beginning of this school year (plus the previous three years begging for testing) and she finally has an appointment to discuss her son's test results in two weeks. Who knows how long it will take to implement the recommendations after that?

they really are!!! Interesting to have a "soul mate" here going through a similar situation. Patience... ah yes, that quality that's so hard to put into practice!

Why oh why is it so hard!?! I pray for more patience daily!

Alrighty. . .

my uneducated guess is Riverside Mill Food Court

But I would like to file a score dispute. Unless I missed a redo or startover during my hiatus I seem to recall racking up a few points prior to said hiatus on previous rations drop. So unless there was a rule or game change that I missed, I officially am filing a score dispute regarding my one point. :lmao:

AK - we can easily do AK in less than a day if needed and it does not have the same Disney feel as the other parks for us BUT there are some fabulous things there . . . FOTLK and EE for us from the headliners but we do also enjoy Finding Nemo and the Safari. Some other gems depending on who is going are: the character breakfast at Tusker House is a ton of fun, spotting and watching DeVine, meeting characters like Pocahontas and Jiminy Cricket at Rafikis with short lines, the parade, etc.

Sure, just check out that there fancy new ticker I got! ;)

OMG!!! Is that you??!!! Are you going to the GF??? IN 18 DAYS????

WOOT!!!

This clue won't be helped by menus. Think about our trip as a whole. ;)

Honestly, it already has. We all adored EE, and the Flame Tree a lot. Will def. be hitting FoLK, then it's off to see the details!

I imagine it WILL take a long, very long time. That's why I think that starting a month later, really, in the big scheme of things won't matter all that much.

Here's the scoop. I went ahead and awarded prizes for part one. It was easier for me to start over, so Cynthia and Shannon won with what was it, 5 points each or something. This RD is part II and will have 13 clues. I think you still have lots of time to get a really cool prize for this part, so keep guessing!

You are right, there's a lot to see there, but I won't feel badly if it's a one or less day park for us. My secret fantasy is finding DeVine. That may take a while :)

Once again I have no clue. This is harder than I thought.

Look at the hint I gave Rosie.... ;)

Reason to be thankful #435

So last night I got a hankering. A hankering for some authentic Vietnamese Spring Rolls, which would turn out to be very un-authentic as you hear the story unfold.

Last summer, I brought some rice spring roll wrappers back with me, with great hopes for a yummy treat sometime in the future. The future happened last night. Here's how it all went down:

Real ones call for fresh mint, basil, lettuce, shrimp, and vermicelli. Lettuce? Check. Shrimp? Check. Mint, basil, no way, not in winter here. Green onions, cilantro, and rice noodles substitute in quite nicely. So in it all went. I rolled up 6 nommy little bundles and arranged them artfully on the plates beside some rice and a little dish of lime/fish sauce for dipping.

Enter- the kids. Now, normally my kids will eat ANYTHING. Seriously, give them tripe or fermented soy bean paste, and there's no problem. NOT this time!! It smells gross, tastes gross and feels gross, they all say. DS, 19 and I have no problem sucking ours down, they were pretty good to me. That sweet chili sauce with lime in it complemented it quite nicely! :thumbsup2 In fact, it was so tasty I ate my daughter's too; that was after I gave up the good fight and let them eat white rice for dinner.

Enter- DH. He is a very easy-to-please kind of guy too. But NOT this time!! Ummmm..... honey, these shrimp aren't cooked! Say what?!! No! These aren't cooked. Well, I thought they were just mushy and fishy cuz they came from 12,000 miles away. No darling; please cook them and make me a new one.

Shrimp duly cooked and tasting much better, I might add, he happily eats 3 of them. I begin to pray. In fact, I prayed pretty hard, but natural consequences are at times (in fact, most of the time) unavoidable. If any of you are Mr. Bean fans, he does a pretty funny sketch of him eating raw oysters that had gone bad. It was kinda like that.

I had cramps all night long. But here's the thankful part(s). I never threw up. Now ain't that the bomb?!! I am sitting here, still having some cramps, but by His good grace, I am not bowing to any porcelain expresses nor "riding the vomit comet" as Amanda so daintily says.

DS, 19, is on an airplane at this very moment for a 2 1/2 hour flight back home. I hope the "natural consequences" of eating raw shrimp that has had a dubious, perhaps unfrozen history, doesn't cause him great affliction at 26,000 ft.

My house is quiet again, and in its groove of routine. I love it!!! Here's wishing you all pleasant dreams tonight!!

Oh my goodness, I'm sending up a quick prayer for your son's, er, intestinal constitution!

Notice my new long-term countdown ticker? (I know YOU will understand!)

Funny, we recently enjoyed our Halloween trip and you'd think I'd be satisfied but, no. I'm longing to go back more than ever!!

Well, well, well! Looky there! Another LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG term planner! I know all too well, the months, ummmmm, no years of anticipation. You'll just have to visit all of us often as you wait it out :)

I loved your last update. I read it last night VERY late, but the house was too quiet to pound on the keyboard to post, on my list of "need to reply" this morning! :thumbsup2 That story about Billy crabwalking down the slide was funny. Funny yet, hard too, Kathy. If you know what I mean.

Okay, sorry, but :lmao: here! That aside..I am so glad you've just had cramps and haven't been riding the vomit comet! When I was about 12 and just starting to cook (latchkey kid along with my brother) I decided to make tapioca pudding to surprise my mom..I was so good..I didn't even taste it. She came home, took a big ole' spoonful..stuck it in her mouth, and it was like watching an old cartoon where the character looks puzzled a moment, starts turning green..and then starts spitting food out. Come to find out a few tsps of salt and a few TBS of salt produce two very different effects! :rotfl:

I'm glad things are back to peace and quiet for you, and hoping your son avoids the proverbial comet as well!

LOL Funny story!

You could always 'cook' shrimp in lime juice. For some reason soaking shrimp in lime creates some type of reaction that 'cooks' them. Glad your tummy wasn't retching! ;)

you guys are so funny...

A couple of things...

For the record here on the DIS - since we have already talked -

I want you to do for your family first...whatever they need comes first - our trip is secondary, probably dead last to whatever you decide to do with your family, moving, education, etc... and I just wanted to make that clear to everyone. :)

We have lost no money - we are way out and I can get every cent back. :thumbsup2

Also...you have a new fan. A new admiration in my book.

We have no water. This modern (well...maybe), American city - has a BUNCH of people with no water. Over 70 pipes (big main pipes) have burst all over the city - so those with water have to boil it to use it for anything useful - and the rest of us that don't have water...well, they have no idea when we will get it back.

Schools are closed.

Even some hospitals and clinics don't have water.

I am having flashbacks from Katrina.

And I stink. :snooty:

So...there ya have it.

But. I did update my December trip report.

Laugh on, girlie. :lmao: It was pretty funny. duh, you'd think after 35 years of cooking I'd have known the diff.! :confused3 I've never done the tsp. vs. tbs. mistake, but that one sounds funny too!:rotfl2:

Ah, yes, ceviche! That sounds nasty to me, but hey, to each his own. I think maybe that's something that starts to taste ok, around beer #5?? :confused3

Was it the ice storm that happened just before you left?? What's up??!!

And for the record, I still think this trip won't move more than a couple weeks in either direction. At some point DH will have to let me go "visit my family". ;)

I, again, have NO idea......Boatwrights?

As a restaurant manager....seafood is a cramp waiting to happen.....it must be fresh, fresh, fresh....
