My little poop factory is still at it.
If she only eats her food she's fine, but I swear she can find every crumb that drops from the table. Plus she can come out of no where and swipe something from your hand just as you're about to take a bite.
She's a ball of fun.

Yeah, I think most folks never change. Really. I went to a pretty small high school, and it seemed I could move in most circles, exept the Cheerleader/Jock cliques. I would have rather spent my Friday nights at the Rocky Horror Picture Show and hot tubbing afterwards with my AP crowd. Total Goobers!!

I forget all the time how old I am now, heck I forget everything!

It's called alz-mommers.

and my 25th. How could this HAPPEN?! Went to my 10th, and was dismayed that not a single thing had changed. The geeks (me) were still the same; the socialites were still anorexic drinking too much, and the jocks were still swaggering around trying to look cool. :confused3

O gosh!! I was only 2 years old when she went to her 10th!!! and she's still a geek, she hasn't changed at all since I was born. not a bit ;) ok, well she's older. . .those were probably my last words on earth.

This may get me kicked out of this PTR, but I was the Cheerleader :cheer2: but only for a couple years, and I was friends with EVERYONE, I didn't hang out with the cheerleaders, I hung out with whoever I felt like on whichever given day. Then I was on dance team, then I moved twice in my jr/sr years and was like a loner :sad2: amazing what happens without the poms. :lmao:

I have no guess for this food drop, I would go with the rest and say Pecos Bills, but if that is correct I would feel like I was cheating since I have no clue.

I think every school is different, to be honest. My cousin was in cheer at her school and was friends with everyone too. So, of course, you we won't vote you off! We would totally miss you! Give me a J!

Awww... that had to be hard! Really hard!! My kids really basically have no friends here either. They have acquaintances, but no real heart and soul mate friends, except each other. Seeing it from a mommy's perspective is really hard!

Okay, I'll give you a no-vote this time. I like your honesty. By the way, I'm thinking of changing voting procedures next time. Too easy to go with the flow, I think. Any ideas??

Well, poop! I didn't know my daughter was logged in- so it really wasn't a 16 year old giving a reply with such fountains of wisdom there! :lmao:

But, I wanted to add...

There seems to be quite a few readers here who are from the Nashville/ Kentucky/Knoxville area here; I'm wondering if it's too early to begin to plan a DISMeet for next Sept.?? Maybe Opry Mills again? OR someone's house?? or other ideas?? I so would love to meet you all (Jessica, Lara, Dawn, MeMom, and a bunch of others!)

How 'bout it??

Ok. I can totally picture you with the puffy hat and big stick.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:

9th grade huh? You prodigy you!

Personally, I thought our drum major was HOT! (Sorry Bekka) but he was.

Ah, High School..

:rotfl2: High School Confession time?? :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

stay tuned for mine....

Maybe I was weird, but I thought the entire drum section was hot! Except my best friend who played xylophone; that would've been weird. :lmao:

:yay:

Dont get me started!!

Newsflash!!! I've done it again!! Remember when we had that whole conversation about my being 42- again?! You remember, the children sucking out gray matter, etc...

I've done it again. I remember Jordan is like 41 or 42, or something super close to my age, and couldn't figure out why he'd be having his 25th, and me only having my 20th. When, all of a sudden, it hit me like an hour old Casey's dog making a surprise re-appearance during Spectro!----- It's going to be my 25th too!!!! Double scary!!! :scared1:

Its CRS - or CRAFT!! (Cant remember "stuff" or Cant Remember a "freakin" thing!!)

hmmmm.... ok I grew up in the same school district - K - 9th grade - then High school - I was very shy with "dating" but my best friend roped me into a double date.... with a DRUMMER from Band... :rotfl2: (it didnt last, he was "too cool for me" :rotfl2:)

Then like JPFmom we moved... I was involved in Yearbook, band, newspaper, student council etc etc... *sigh... but what I did was try out for something different - and made the LEAD in that school's play.... when they posted "wth is Sandy321?" while I was standing right there wanting to jump and shout ME ME ME!!! :rotfl2:

then when I went back to my old HS - - I met my DH.... he "moved" into my clique when I moved out - he moved in!! He was so confused!! We stayed in touch thru college - and then married....

he is very versatile music wise!! He played lots of percussion instruments, but his main was the trumpet!!

:surfweb:

I'm baaaacckkk. . . but ten pages behind. Must go to bed now but I will catch up and post in the morning.

:welcome: BACK! :)

or one with a LOT of kids...or a daycare program during the week :rotfl:

Ok there's a traumatic moment!

But

:rotfl: at the same time. In retrospect anyway.

See and I have such magical moments of bell solo's, being front and center for the intro to Somewhere over the rainbow....

Sigh.

Ok so by my count we have...

2 Piccolo's (Liesa and Shann)
1 French Horn (Sandy)
1 Metal Xylophone or Clarinet (me, take your pick)

We could make a DISband!

We need a few more instruments though...and they must have paid their dues in HS marching band although exceptions may be made for volunteer marching bands as an adult.

Jazz band doesn't count so Jeff is out.

And seriously? Jordy might join the troops and I'll miss you guys by 2 weeks?

WAH!

YES. Very large church! We have 3 campuses...over 7000 people at the main campus...1200+ at mine and I have no idea how many at the newest one? But we have a very large church! and I LOVE it! :)

Try this out for size....

I played.....

HANDBELLS!

And it was serious handbells, too...really. We went to the national festivals and we were the opening concert playing songs like:

William Tell Overture

Here is a You Tube Video of another choir doing this song...Not my choir (as we did not have You Tube back then)...but you get the idea. It is a HARD song. :)

Ok, I'm glad you said that was you, not your daughter posting...I didn't think that your 16 year old had kids! Yikes!

I keep saying 42 myself. even though I know darn well I'm 43. I just don't like the idea of 44 sneaking up on me! Seems to me I had this same issue of number confusion at 32/33 and then again at 36/37....

See it's easy enough to remember Jeff is 45 but I don't like subtracting my 2 years from that number!

:rotfl:

oh that brings back some memories!

I actually think most people are bigger than that, in my experience and can and do move beyond sterotypes.

Granted, I was a floater, I was a cheerleader, but also a band geek, in AP, but also on the ASB so maybe my perspective is a bit skewed.

Our cheer set up was a bit unusual for most schools. You could only do it one year, either as a junior or a senior. If you made it to the finals, you had to try out in front of the WHOLE SCHOOL. And the whole school voted.

Which you'd think would mean a squad full of a certain type, right?

Nope.

You have never seen a more eclectic group in your life! Most of us were not good friends with each other before we made it and 8 more different individuals might be hard to find. Ranging from god squad to party hearty, from amazing athletes to super popular social types. No clue how I made it on.

My point being is that things are not always what they seem and peeling back the onion is a good exercise!

What I do know is this. Despite the fact that Seattle is a darn big town, a surprising amount of my class mates, self included, came right back to our neck of the woods and our kids are in school together. And I'm still a floater. And, for the most part, I still like them all.

Aw JP, I bet it had far more to do with the moving then the lack of poms. Jr/Sr years are brutal that way.

SO cool! I played handbells at church in my teens but we were very small scale compared to that! Still...nothing does it for me like the intro to Carol of the Bells on Christmas Eve!

very very cool!!!!

Holy Moly that is a large church. You don't need wagons. You need a fleet.

I'm up for a DIS meet next Sept in Nashville. Give me the dates and I'll be there. I vote for Cheesecake Factory :cloud9: I LUV me some Cheesecake Factory and that is the closest one to me (I think 3 hrs away is a bit far for Cheesecake- but add the DISmeet and I'm so there).:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I'm in Knoxville! :thumbsup2

Cynthia- Now that's the way it should be set up to select the cheer squad!!
Our school totally didn't work like that; they had the old cheerleaders and a few of the coaches or a school panel choose them. Hence, a clique is born.

I think the whole school choosing and only doing it for a year is the better way to go. But, hey, there I go shooting off my opinions again. I'm sure there are plenty of others who would totally disagree, so I'm really sorry if I've stepped on anyone's toes. :hippie:

Shannon!!- Yes!! Another Vol!! You MUST come and help up make a fun DISMeet!! Nashville is like 3 hours, right?? Is that too far?? Is there somewhere in between Nash and Knox that might work?? Or are you Knoxies willing to meet up at the Cheesecake Fact. Mall? (sorry don't know the name of it). Maroo and I had a nice time there, and the food is pretty good.

But, I'd love to find a quiet place to meet and sit and get to know each other better too. Is there a park nearby?? Panera's is there too, it's quiet. Let's hear your ideas!!! I'm thinking it will work best for me sometime between August 25-Sept 2?? I know it's a long way off, but I dont' think it's ever too start planning, right?

I could do a cheesecake and coffee for lunch anytime!, Jess!! We're counting you in!

Well, it looks like we'll get no more guesses on this one, so I'll go ahead and tell you that you WERE ALL RIGHT!!!

Folks, I'm having a really hard time finding a good balance between too easy and too hard. There's got to be a better way. But, I'm still thinking on it.

So, Pecos Bill's and the Tall Inn Cafe was the answer! Mmmm, mmmm!!! Love that toppings bar. You can move just about any burger from the crappy-mediocre category to "pretty OK" with sauteed mushrooms and onions. Fresh tomatoes and plenty of cheese sauce doesn't hurt either. Although, I've heard the cheese sauce is dicey. It wasn't there last year for our trip; which irked me quite some bit. Anyone else know if this is more miss than hit?

Actually, now that I look at the PECOS BILL'S MENU , I'm sorta leaning toward the chicken wrap (with cheese sauce, of course!). I'm not a huge burger fan, so I'll save my burger rations for a better burger establishment.

So, how many of you are familiar with American Tall Tales of Pecos Bill?? Here is an excerpt from my son's reading book (I Met You In a Story- Bob Jones Univ. Press)

"In early American a man had to be strong just to survive. As a result, BIG stories grew up about BIG men who could do BIG, impossible things. But these impossible characters lived only in the minds of their storytellers.

The storytellers were almost always men who wished they could perform great feats. Sometimes they worked at hard, dangerous jobs. Sometimes their jobs were dull. The men wanted to have something to dream about. They wanted to know a bigger-than-life lumberjack, railroad man, seaman, or cowboy. So they invented characters like Paul Bunyan, John Henry, Stormalong, and of course, Pecos Bill."

Slewfoot Sue was Pecos Bill's wife who was just as unbelievable as himself, and of course Widow Maker, was his trusty horse whose "slow and easy" pace was about 60 miles an hour.

I don't know about you, but I feel like Widow Maker when I'm eating at Disney. I really hope that will all change this year!!

Rations Drop #4 will be coming up over the weekend for ya'll to guess at! You won't want to miss it!! By the way, the score is now a 6 way tie!!! So, keep your guesses coming!!! I can't afford 6 pins!! :lmao:

OK I can't comment on what I just read through.. but it does seem I was mentioned, by name, a few times.:confused3

It seems like you guys were having WAY too much fun while I was gone!

I'll have to get back into the loop when I can see straight!

WELCOME BACK! Bet you had a great time!

We missed you around here, and yeah, we talked behind your back. It was all good, though. No worries!

You're behind 2 points in our game- you need to catch up!

A few thoughts before my weekend hiatus of computer time that came to me while sipping a nice glass of red wine made in the Turgen Valley, not far from here. It is quite nice with our Saturday night flick; The Return of the King. It's been a long day with a bunch of work getting our house ready for, what a lot of folks are saying, will be brutal winter (ie. -30C) and a lot of ice and wind. I also had my quilting class today; of which only 1 student showed up. Ugh! I am frustrated at putting a lot of work into preparing for it, and having students that are very flaky!

Onto trip planning stuff:

I realized that by my writing about our dining choices, you might have the impression that all of us will be eating at all these places together all the time. I'm not sure that will necessarily be true. I'm sure that maroo will join us for most of them, but if I understand correctly, she may actually venture out on her own sometimes. Am I right, maroo?? You'll have to give your opinions on which ones you're most excited about or which ones you are not at all looking forward to as they come up. So far we have Caseys, Pecos Bills, and Flame Tree BBQ.

I'm loving putting my mini-trip notebook together! eandesmom did me up some amazing pages for the section dividers for which I am completely and utterly grateful for. I'm taking my time designing the insert pages with Excel. The thing that is taking so long is the pages of the hidden gems and must-sees and do's for each park. I'm going back through all the books I have and hitting the various websites to double check that I'm not missing anything. Trust me, there's quite a lot of them! It's the little things I want to make sure I have on my lists like seeing the little Ewok houses at DHS, and the flag ceremony at MK. Everything else is done, like my dining review note pages (BTW, my future dining report is already named! :lmao:- seriously!) and a little pocket for my ME info, etc...

I am definitely going to be with you guys most of the time.

I can only think of one meal I am not excited about...

But it has not been discussed yet... :rolleyes1

God is in the details...

Kathy

Indeed He is! I daily, minute by minute need to remind myself of that- esp. on the tougher days!

THAT, I am glad to hear! Are we good so far?? You've not been to Pecos yet, right??

OK, we'll discuss that one, when we get to it. I think I remember which one it is. See, you do know more than you let onto! HA!
