Oh, maybe these. I worked in a steak house when I was in college and these were the standard appetizer. We'd bring them to every table with a bowl of salsa;

Never heard of it (other than the 80's boy band)

I looked it up and see it's similar to posole/pozole and I have had that. I didn't love it, but ate it out of respect to the cook. It was at a Christmas Eve celebration years ago and it was special to their family.
