A bit of background....We are going in early Oct, and it will be 4 adults (me, DW, DS and new DDIL), looking for suggestions on a resturant to have a character meal.

It is the first time for our new DDIL, and I want to expose her to a character meal (with a good variety of characters). Both the DW and DDIL are celiac (real ones not fad dieters), and when we went to WDW, the DW was spoilt rotten by the chefs at every single place we ate.

Any place that stands out for an experience, that we can get some gluten free items, to make the meal a special event.

I would look into Minnie's . A great character meal and see if they handle gluten free. I know they have omelets.

DP and I (no kids) are making our first DLR trip in a couple months and we too want a character breakfast. He's not a lifelong Dis nut like me, but he's warmed up to it after two WDW trips. I didn't try a character meal with him on those trips, I was trying to ease him into my obsession, but he says he's ready to give it a try. I'm leaning towards storytellers breakfast so we can take in the GCH atmosphere, but we're staying at DLH so goofy's is tempting too. Is one of those a better fit for an adults only group?

For a splurge the Napa Rose Chief table is nice (Non character). My fav is Minnie's though. And for the OP there is a gluten free superthread on this forum.

Here is the Gluten free super thread:

My family, 5 of us adults and 2 late teens, went to both Goofy's Kitchen and the Paradise Pier Surf's Up breakfast. Lots of characters at both. We were among the last people at Surf's Up (late breakfast) and all of the characters basically hung out at our table for a good 1/2 hour (Stitch, Daisy and Minnie especially).

I would say you would have gluten free options at either one.

We were basically an adults only table and still had a great time. It was my daughter's 23rd birthday at Goofy's and we asked if Belle would be in that morning because our daughter absolutely loves Belle. When she walked in she immediately came up to my daughter and was wonderful. I don't think it was weird at all to be all adults, we had a blast.

My DH and I always do the Minnie and friends breakfast. We enjoy interacting with the everyone.

I may just be one of those darn "fad dieters" I suppose (since I am not celiac, just insulin resistant), but I had a great experience at Ariel's Grotto at the Princess breakfast. One of the chefs came to our table, walked through what I could have and what I couldn't and made my meal special for me. Plus, the princesses were awesome! #teamaurora

Disney is really great with allergies just ask Disney Dining to make a note on your reservation.

Enjoy your trip!

It's just DH and I and we always do Storytellers. We love the ambiance there, it's not hectic and you can get the buffet or order off the menu. The characters are more wildlife than traditional (Brother Bear, Rafiki, Chip & Dale, etc), but you can see the Fab 5 in the park.

Last time I did a character breakfast was for my 30th in 2012 at Minnie and Friends. There were six adults, no kids, and lots of families all around us. The characters were great! They spent just as much time with us as they did with the adorable toddler next door and we have some great memories. The restaurant wasn't too crowded, we had the first seating, and most stopped by more than once.

It was apparently so much fun that we're going again in December with our DD and my DNephew who will both be under 1. I'm always up for that sort of thing, but there is a wide range of Disney love in this family, and most don't love it nearly as much as me. But it was DMIL's idea, so complaints here!

Good luck with your planning!

Minnie's has a good variety of characters and last June when I was there they made me gf waffles. You can check out their menu on line but other gf items that they served were omelets, bacon, fruit etc.

Goofy's is our favorite but I prefer to do character dining on a non park day. We ate at Goofy's last June too but I didn't ask for anything GF although I am sure they have some items available. For dinner, they have beef, mashed potatoes, Caprese salad and other salads...plenty of gf options.

Looks like Minnie's is the one to go to!

This will be a surprise for them, I'll just pretend I am a grumpy person (not much of a stretch) and then take them out for a very nice meal.

Thanks to all who replied.

My wife and I had wonderful gluten-free breakfasts at Goofy's Kitchen and Surf's Up. Character interaction was also good at both meals, but we preferred Goofy's Kitchen, a little quieter, the chef was more personable - and I thing my wife enjoyed Aladdin a little too much:lmao:.

Don't forget to bring your tiaras, ladies! Princesses and queens of all ages never retire! I don't go on a Disney cruise or to a park without one! (I make an exception for my pirate hat, of course, for pirate night.) You can buy great ones at Claire's, even Walmart, and we got nice hidden mickey pink and blue or white stone ones from BBB that you can buy. Too much fun!

PS Frank, LOVE the cool retro pic!!!!
