Hi!

I was so excited about posting questions that I forgot to stop and introduce myself. :upsidedow

I'm Mare and my family and I are going to WDW next month (9/12 - 9/18)! My dh and I haven't been to WDW in 17 years. Fun backstory: Both of our families were at MK for Thanksgiving 1993; however, we didn't know each other then. How funny that my future dh and I might have "met" long before we started dating! *lol*

We have two super special kids, ds3 (autism) and dd5 (tube fed). Our trip is part family reunion, part birthday celebration (my dad turns the big 6-2 while there) and part personal triumph (our son has been in intensive ABA therapy for the past 18 months and has made AMAZING progress and my daughter is slowly being weaned off her feeding tube after a long 3 years!!).

Our entire family (my parents, sister/brother-in-law, aunts cousins) has been saving for this trip for a few years now and we plan to really whoop it up while we're there. :-) The only caveat? I'm completely in charge of planning. It's been fun working with the Disney personnel, but most days, I just need a drink. I've logged in more time online, on the phone, researching, planning and acting as a go-between (WDW and various family members) than I did my entire working career.

If you're going to be at the park that week, be sure to look for us. Especially on 9/13 - look out for a dashing dad wearing an "I'm the Birthday Boy" t-shirt featuring Mickey Mouse. :lmao: Otherwise, I'll be the bedraggled mother dragging two tots around with an entourage of relatives in tow pestering me about what we're going to do next. :rotfl:

After all this work, I've told my family that I will be photographing every meal, every drink and every snack we consume so that I can run back here and give a full report. It's been SO helpful lurking around here (and running to ask questions) and I'd love nothing more than to provide even more helpful feedback.

Now, where's my martini? What? MK doesn't allow alcohol? :scared1:

Welcome to the boards Mare!
I think you'll fit in just fine around here :goodvibes
It sounds like you have a very special trip planned. I can't wait to read your trip report!
Nope - No alcohol in MK - but that's why they created the other 3 parks!! :thumbsup2
Also - Go to that Hess Station close to Downtown - and you can stock up on beer and wine for the room for those days! Pretty reasonably priced to be on WDW property.
:hippie:

:welcome: to the Dis, Infamousmare! Congratulations on all the progress your children are making, that is wonderful!

Happy Planning!

Thanks for the welcome. :cutie: I was kidding about needing a drink while at WDW...I think. Good to know that the Hess Station is the place to go if I need to medicate myself.

I think we're going to have a great trip! I'm sure my dh (anti-Disney - only going because I'm making him) and my mom (hates lines, hates crowds, hates slow service - and this trip was HER idea!) will grumble a bit; however, I think that our trip will be what we make of it. :thumbsup2

I have enjoyed reading the TR from the lady who dragged her anti-Disney husband all the way from Canada to FL to enjoy one last trip. She's given me a lot of inspiration! :)
