Yeah - it's gotta be woke PC bull if they're not white male humans. I think I remember the same stuff about Star Wars back in the 80s with the casting of the sequels.

Quite the opposite. It's these last 3 sequels that turned the Star Wars universe into the UN.

Star Wars was a space opera and pretty much a galactic union. One would absolutely expect that there be all sorts of species. Even among the non-human species in Star Wars, racial variation was written in. Was there something wrong with that?

I've seen fictional depictions of space exploration from Asia showing that space is dominated by Asians. I guess you think that's PC.

Is this a Disney+, direct to DVD/Streaming or a theater release?

Theaters (June 17, 2022), although who knows about Disney+ Premier Access.

Buzz is voted by Chris Evans. Some of the "buzz" about the voice casting (especially why Tim Allen isn't doing this) is **ahem** interesting. I'll leave it at that. However, the gist seems to be that this is supposed to be a mythical version of Buzz and not a toy (that is theoretically based off this version).

The trailer looks great!

I think using a different voice actor is makes some sense as this the "real" Buzz Lightyear, not the toy Buzz Lightyear.

It's not the first time someone else has voiced the character, so people are trying to make this a big deal when it's not.

If Disney/Pixar had a concern about Tim Allen's politics, then why wasn't he replaced for 2019's Toy Story 4?

The feeling I get from this is that it's like the in-universe equivalent of a "live action" movie. There was a toy and an animated series in the '90s and now "Lightyear" is the live action feature film adaptation starring actors who are "real" people that exist in Andy's world. That would explain why it makes sense not to cast Tim Allen to voice Buzz, since the voice actor for the Buzz toy and animated series probably wouldn't look like Buzz, so they'd have to cast a different actor who looks the part.

Obviously, it might not exist at all in-universe, and could just be Pixar telling a more realistically rendered Buzz origin story, but I like to think of Andy sitting in the theater and nostalgically watching "Lightyear" (and possibly going on the Internet afterward to complain about how the film 'ruined his childhood' 😏).

To be honest after I have found out they have inserted a gay kiss in there I'm not interested in showing my kids anymore
I don't think this kinda stuff has space in children cartoons and seems a bit forced. But to each their own.
