I am glad you caught that TCD I read it like he wanted to go from the settlement to the marina.

Shanman can tell you how many feet it is, how many steps it would take a 6'1" man with a 31" stride, and probably even how many deer you will encounter on the walk. Of course, Shan has an acute interest in tracking deer, in particular the flying kind.
