Lights out at Night?

We just returned from a wonderful 5 day trip. One thing DH and I noticed at night was that the resorts appeared much darker. We were on the boat to MK from WL and noticed the lodge seemed so much darker from a distance. Then we rounded the bend over by GF and noticed the only lights visible were the ones left on in rooms and on top of the restaurant by the water.

Is it just us, or did Disney used to light up the resorts more at night?

Maybe it's their way of "Going Green"?

It seems like they don't light them up as much as they used to, but even way back (I won't say how far ) we would be staying at CR and notice if we got up in the night, that the lights on the tower were turned off. I would think now that people have to go outside to smoke, that they wouldn't make it too dark.
