How do these work? Can we go get one first thing in the morning and will it be for the first show? What time is the first show?
We won't be doing TOT or RNR, so we will be heading to the other end of the park and could possibly hit the fast pass early.
Want to avoid waiting in too long a line if possible, due to the heat.

The first show of the day when we were there a week ago was 1:30p. We got a Fastpass for 12:20p and noticed that we were eligible for another Fastpass almost immediately thereafter. I don't know what the purpose of the Fastpass for a mass-seating show was- when we got in the Fastpass line we were ultimately mixed in with the non-Fastpass crowd and slowly walked in a crowd to the seating.

When we went at the end of July, the fast pass people were seated first in the middle of the seats. The others were let in after and were seated on the right and left of us. NO seat is bad really, but it did fill up quickly and fast passes ran out and people were getting turned away from the earlier shows.

If I remember correctly, the FP line moves into the the theatre quicker, so there is less time broiling in the hot sun standing in the other line. We also did't feel the need to get to the theatre extra early to get in...we knew we'd have a seat if we got there w/in our FP time. We pushed it to the last minute and got ok seats--not the best in the house, but we were happy. I think most seats there are fine unless you get stuck sitting behind a pole. I do remember watching the lines move in afer we got our seats--the "standby" folks stood there wilting while the FP people trotted right on in. Definitiely worth it on a hot Fla. afternoon. It is a great show by the way.

Getting a FP for LMA doesn't affect the other FP for attractions like RnR and ToT. In July we couldn't get a FP for the first show sometime around 11:00 am. The other times didn't work for us due to ADRs, so we came back another day and made sure we got the FP for the first show.

So would anyone reconmend heading to LMA to get fastpasses as soon as you are done with ToT and R'nRC?

You can get your fastpass for Lights, Motors first thing in the morning if you wish. You can also get the LM fastpass almost immediately (if not, wait five minutes and try again) after getting a ToT or RnR fastpass "in violation" of the next fastpass time on the latter.

If you actually do ToT and RnR first, even if you get a fastpass for one of them, I can't guarantee there will still be LM fastpasses available for the first show when you head right on over, but unless it is a truly busy day there should be.

When I was there in mid-May they let the fastpass folks in first. They let the regular folks in to join the end of the fastpass folks, but fastpass latecomers could go down the fastpass corridor and bypass most of the regular folks. There may have been some changes since.

Assuming you want to go to the first show, I'd get your LMA FP no later than 10am (assuming you go down when the first showing is at 11am).
