Lightroom DNG

For those of you who shoot in RAW and use Lightroom, do you use the DNG option or do you keep it in the camera's native RAW format?

I shoot DNG in camera.

I shoot in Raw NEF from the camera. When I import into lightroom I have lightroom convert into DNG. A couple of reasons I do this is that once you edit the image the edit info is stored inside the DNG. Native camera raw files will carry a small side car XML file in the same directory. I guess I just got tired of extra files. I like have just one with all the info. I also tested from my files and really could not see any differences in image quality between native and DNG. Plus the DNG were smaller in size. With all that I really did not see any real benefit to keeping larger native RAW. I have been using DNG for a couple of years and have no issues. I guess I will continue.

While you do end up with an XMP sidecar in Adobe Camera RAW and Bridge, you don't get one in Lightroom. At least I don't with my Canon CR2 files. It saves all of that data in the library file.

Leave it in raw. Conversion can introduce problems or damage the original final in the tiniest way. I don't want to hence it.
