so do you only get to eat a meal replacement shake for 100 days?:scared1:

yes plus 4+litres of water black coffee and tea they 'guarantee' 3 stone loss.

hi

i did the diet and yes it was great at the time and i lost 5 stone in 4 months.
but i have gained back half of it.

i didnt think the counseling made any difference, yes it did when you are on the diet but when you arent it didnt really help.
there is someone on here who is on it and is doing really well, but its when you arent on the diet thats the problem.

i feel that it has now made me have a really unhealthy relationship with food now.
i know a lot of people who have done lighterlife and cambridge diet and they have all gained the weight back.

sorry if its not what you wanted to hear but i think you would be better off healthy eating. it might take longer to get the weight off but it is more likely to stay off.

My mum did it and lost 5 stone in 4 months but she has a really bad relationship with food now. She has only put back about a stone on but she really struggles with it and regularly goes back on the diet. I have tried to do it and it was the hardest thing I have ever done! Honestly it was like mental torture and I only lasted a couple of weeks. I really wouldn't recommend this diet at all.

Im not a fan of these sort of diets either, Healthy eating is a much better option long term.

its never easy though

I know two people who have done it very successfully.. but both have put all the weight back on....

I know people who have done the cambridge diet more successfully... thats the same kind of thing but without the group counselling and its quite a bit cheaper.
Still.. Slimfast is cheaper still...

Good luck whatever yo decide to do! :)

a lass I work with is doing this as she has tried everything else. She is very petit and has about 8 stone to lose, she is desperate to start a family but is too overweight.

I think this is okay as long as you don't see it as a long term thing and only use it as a kick start to healthy eating plans. I can't do this sort of thing as I miss proper food soooo much :rotfl:

I dont agree with these kind of diets.
I would say do it naturally by cutting out certain foods, and excersise.
The problem with diets like these as mentioned is you become hooked on the certain thing, then when you finish it and go back to eating the problem is still there, the food intake needs addressing.
But thats my OP lol.:goodvibes

If you want to try it go for it.:thumbsup2

I know a friend who did it and she did end up losing a lot of weight. However she has put a bit of it back on now.

At the time thought, she really did not look well - she passed out several times and she also lost a bit of hair had lots of dizzy spells etc.

Hi Girls,

I am currently doing the lighter life diet at the moment as mentioned on Kellie's post and have lost 3 stone in 10 wks but still have around 3 stone more to go.

Lighter Life is a food management program specifically designed for people with 3 or more stone to lose. You have 4 meal packs a day which are nutritionally balanced along with 4 it’s of water and the initial abstinent period is 14 wks or 100 days. You receive 2 hours counselling each week at your weigh in's. Once you have completed the foundation part of the program you if you have more weight to shed continue into the developer’s course.

When you meet your target weight and this can be what ever you yourself are comfortable with whether it be a size 8 up to a 18 you will move into Route to Management which is the introduction of food back in to your diet. After that is completed you can still meet up to check your progress on a monthly basis with your counsellor /and group if you feel the need.

The point of this diet is like any other diet its a “lifestyle change” you are not going to go on this or any other diet and once the weight has come off hey presto its off for good its all about changing your bad eating habits highlighting and knowing what they are to begin with and then listening and understanding what your body is telling you i.e. when you are full and making the healthier meal options this doesn’t mean that you cannot have a life i.e. go out for a curry or have a bag of crisps every now and again but it does mean that these are to be consumed in moderation.

A lot of you mentioned people you know who have been on the diet and now have put the weight back on and have a bad relationship with food, that’s simply because they haven’t changed their habits this wont be because of the diet this is because they cannot change their unhealthy ways and this will happen no matter what form of dieting you do.

Sorry for the rant and if I have offended anyone it wasn’t intentional but the only reason that LL have the abstinent period is for people to shed the weight quickly to keep up the momentum and help them in a healthy range from the chaos they were causing themselves in the first place and for when they are let loose on conventional food again.

Once again sorry if I have offended anyone.

I am not offended by your post but i do disagree with you on this point. Just because a particular diet does not work for someone it doesnt mean that a different diet wont. Everyones bodies are different and different diets suit different people.

I agree in the sense that different diets work for different people I trying to get the point across that outcome of every diet is that the person doing it needs to accept that they need to change their lifestyle/ eating habits as they wouldnt be able to carry on like they where as they will end up overweight again.

I have tried other diets in the past and have found that I didnt stick to them for one reason or another and I wasnt deep down prepared to stick to it.

I disagree with your reasoning about why people have a bad relationship with food. My mum had all the counselling on changing eating habits etc but now she is too scared to eat properly in case the weight goes back on. The diet is not a healthy way to lose weight, its so quick that as soon as you stop doing it even if you eat healthily you put weight on.

I was on this diet. Lost 3 stone within 3 months. Wow you might say. So did I. But and a big but at work one day I was feeling rough and felt really tired. Very moody too. My ward checked my BP and it was 89/55. I was sent home and had to book to see the doctor. Now dont come back that I was dehydrated, because I was drinking the 4 litres, yes 4 litres it was due to the fact that I was starving my body. A few facts that I learnt about this diet.

1) Your body requires a certain amount of calories for your muscle. Which is a huge body organ in itself. Basically starving yourself and not having the required calories kills your muscle. Hence when you do start eating food the weight piles back on.

2) You can get gall stones with the rapid amount of weight loss. Which lighter life does not inform you.

3) Your kidneys and liver are effected too. Including your heart. Due to the stress of the body that it goes through due to the diet.

4) Not everyone learns how to eat from the diet and quickly gains the food.

5) Depression as well.

I learnt all this from my ward manager and a doctor on the day I was ill.

Please consider all these before you go on it. There are many other diets to choose from. The quickest weight loss is not always the best option.

have you made a decision about lighter life?
