Lightening McQueen

I am heading to Disney with HUGE McQueen fans (3 & 4 year old sons). Are the Cars in the park at anytime? I've seen some incredible pictures of them - life size cars - they go crazy for them. Are they always in the park or only at certain times?

Lightnin' and Mater are on the Pixar street (standing outside of TSM, on the opposite side of the street, to the right--next to the cooling station). They aren't there all the time and only come out for short picture taking periods-not sure of the intervals, but you can certainly ask a CM. It's a pretty popular attraction, so you have to make sure you get on line early for a picture.

Definitely worth the time and hassle IMHO if your kids are fans.

My own son is crazy about Cars (his whole bedroom is a Cars motif and he sleeps in a huge wooden Lightning McQueen bed) and this photo-op was one of the big highlights of our last WDW trip for him...

We saw Lightning and Mater at DHS last year in the Streets of America section. They were right near Muppets 3D. You can see the character locations on this DHS map.

I thought my son (3) would be thrilled to see McQueen and Mater...but they freaked him out...they are loud. They don't talk, they sound...you know like cars...but for some reason, he wouldn't get near them...

I thought it would be a great photo, but he wouldn't get close enough...on the other hand, my daughter (1) LOVED them and didn't want to leave the area...

Ha...perhaps he will do better with the princesses...HA!!!

our nephew LOVED cars last summer (now i think he's more into king fu panda--gasp!), so DH and i were very excited to have our pictures taken with them. we gave my SIL the link to the photopass so she could show my newphew the pictures and he cried...BUT I WANNA MEET MATER TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is tops on my list for my ds this summer. I am so hoping they will be out on the day we go to DHS. I will skip everything else just for my ds to meet Lightning and Mater. He loves Cars.

The Cars seem to be permanently stationed right next to the Streets of America now - they have their own little "garage." However, I remember visiting DHS in June 2008, and they were on Pixar Street and I thought I remember seeing them drive away when they were done with the meet and greet. Am I imagining this? Or has anyone else seen them drive away? I thought that added more magic to seeing them.

When I was there 2 weeks ago my wife and I got our picture with them over near the muppets in "Luigi's Garage". The CM who was there said they are stationed there from park open to park close everyday. Hopefully she was an informed CM.

As you can tell from my name my son is a HUGE cars fan....

They used to drive out for meet and greets a few times a day and like someone else said they were super loud!

Now they have a "home" and stay at Luigi's garage. They are still loud but not nearly as loud as before.

When we went they did the drive out and we waited 45 min to see them. I think giving them a home has made this problem go away!

We have definitely seen them drive out. In fact we even saw them preview before the movie came out in 2005. My middle son, then 2, fell in love with them that day and still is.

We were all excited for my youngest son to see LM and TM too but he was scared to death to get anywhere near them. He did enjoy seeing them from a distance tho. He also enjoyed see the Herbie car in the stunt show. Had to pull out the old Herbie movies when we got home.
