It will be awhile before our next WDW trip and we're in need of a fix! I noticed some WDW light-up pins for sale on eBay...if we're not at the parks, the only use it would have is the "4 games" function. What are the games? Looking at the pins, I can't imagine. Also, there's a WDW DVD for sale...I also saw it at the Trading Post at WL on our last trip. Is it very different from the WDW trip planning DVD you get for free? I asked at WL, but no CMs there had actually seen it, so couldn't answer.
TIA!

I bought one of the light up pins on ebay before we went to Disney. Bought it for $5 and the shipping was $5. It is the one with Sorcerer Mickey amd Epcot in the backround. I saw one at the park for $26. But I must admit that I never opened the pin or wore it at Disney. I had packed it but since we went in February and it was cool I wore layers and didn't want to have to mess with repinning it and all. At the time I thought it was so cool and bought it for my son. But I never gave it to him because once I got it I figured he wouldn't wear it because it's rather bulky not flat. So then I decided to save it to give it to my best friend who let me borrow her brand new luggage for our trip. But then since she has 3 children I didn't want them to fight over it... I finally decided to save it for our next trip perhaps in April 2005. The Cinderella castle one is actually prettier than the one I got. I saw both at the parks at a tiny kiosk cart.

We bought light up pins and used them on our last trip summer 02. They used up the batteries in the 7 days we were there. They light up when you touch them and they light up on some rides, parades, etc. We found that they RARELY ever lit up on rides or parades with the exception of the ball at EPCOT and it's a small world. We were kind of disappointed they didn't work during the parade, or fantasmic, or the many rides we went on.

the pins do use batteries quickly, but in the parks just go up to any kiosk that sells them and they will give you new batteries for it.
I would recommend packing your own eyeglass screwdriver to open the battery cover, many of the kiosks don't have them.

I'm not sure if we're on the same page DVD wise, but I have the one that runs $29.95 from the theme parks. Mine's an older copy from the 100 years of magic celebration, but I would have to imagine they're pretty much the same.

They are MUCH different than the free planning kit video/DVD. Think of it as the DVD version of the coffee table books you can buy.

I'm glad I have it! It gives me my fix when I need it! :)

Could you say a little more about this DVD? I don't really understand what it is. What's it called? Thanks.

Ali

It doesn't really have a title. Mine just says Walt Disney World: 100 Years of Magic.

It's some footage of each ride at each park.

We have the 100 years of magic pins for our two DDs. I always put in fresh batteries when we go and never have to change them when we are there. Ours light up a lot...Rio del Tiempo in Mexico when the fireworks come on, Spaceship Earth, Flight of PP, IASW, etc but their favorite is ToT, it turns all white, then starts flashing white only when the ghosts are out!!

When we were there in January, 2003 the Belz outlet store was selling the "100 Years" MM pins for $3. I bought one the previous year and really enjoyed it in the parks. I call it going off in the HM (throbbing red heart-beat at end of ride), IASW, Fantasmic (the pin went "spaz" at the end of the show), and at several other locations.
