Light sabers

Okay, next question...

Has anybody managed to get a light saber home on a flight (transatlantic) safely?

I know they break down into smaller pieces but does the saber piece fit in a suitcase.

The old ones used to collapse in on themselves so could easily be stowed in luggage but it looks like the new ones are one piece (plus the handle of course).

Anybody know what kind of length they are?

(we're going to be spending soooo much money there lol )

Saber blades at Savi's workshop are 31 inches long. The ones sold for Legacy lightsabers have two sizes. I believe they're something like 26 inches and 36 inches, but i'm not totally certain. Apologies if you follow metric system, and need to convert.

Although I didn't take it transatlantic, what I did for an U.S. flight was to take the lightsaber case as a carryon (blade still inside), I removed the hilt and had that in my luggage.

On the plane I put the case in the back of the overhead luggage bin with a bag in front of it. The saber case counted as one carryon.

For another trip I got the lightsaber and the deluxe case (which is pretty nice). There I did pretty much the same thing, but I combined the two cases - I unclipped and wound the carry straps from each case around each other, to make one seemingly larger case that I took as one carryon... that I also put in the back of a bin.

International flight bins I remember being maybe shorter, but also deeper? Not as sure how the case would fit with the handle removed.

The deluxe case with the hilt part folded over and just the Savi blade inside is just at 35 inches. The normal case should be about the same. Both cases could potentially be folded more without a blade.

The Savi's blade itself is almost as long though at 34.5 inches or so - they say they are 31 inches long but that's from where they exit the hilt. They have a few inches of connector at the base as well.

They say you can bring on board an umbrella, so I'd say the lightsaber case should be able to go wherever umbrellas would go...
