Light sabers at DHS

I think I remember reading about building light sabers at DHS. Are they the same as (or compatible with) the light saber kits available at other stores? I saw some at my soon-to-close Toys R Us, and wondered if it would be worth getting a set or two to augment one I know my kid will want to get when we visit DHS.

There are a ton of variations on the light sabres. The ones at disney feature an opaque or translucent blade that collapses. a review is seen on dis unplugged. If you can get cheap ones I would recommend it, as they can take a beating and will save you some money from Disney's prices. I do not know if the Disney ones make noise or not.

No, the toy store 'build a blade' ones are not compatible with the Disney 'build your own lightsaber' ones. My son has plenty of both.

It's also pretty hard to placate a kid with a store bought one when they want to build their own.

Know there were some issues with Disney lightsaber stations (parts) a while back, not sure if they are running now.

To other poster, yes the Disney ones make noise.

Agree they aren’t compatible with other ones. We were there last week and one store in Epcot I think was out of some parts but the shop at DHS outside star tours was fully stocked. My son built one and I thought the price was reasonable since you get the experience of building it and customizing it too which is fun.
