Light saber thru TSA / SWA

My DS just came back to our room with an enormous light saber / I would say it's about 30 inches. It does NOT come apart and does NOT fit in our luggage ...

So - will we be able to carry this thing onboard? Does anyone (TSA or SWA) consider these things 'weapons' and force them to be discarded?

Hoping that it's not 30$ down the tubes....we fly home tomorrow (Wednesday!).

The Kylo Ren saber?

We've never once had an issue with a lightsaber or plastic sword (or stormtrooper blaster) going into carryons and onto the plane, but even I with our good luck wouldn't risk THAT.

Too bad I didn't see this earlier. I would have suggested a quick web search to see if it could be bought at home or shipped TO home, and a trip back to the store to return it.

Yes - it's the huge Kylo Ren one that is purchased from a CART not from a STORE (it's not the build your own)....it's not on the disneyparks shopping app that I could find either... (We looked before going back to DHS to get it last night)..

It won't fit into anything so we will literally be carrying it.

The TSA actually has a policy for light sabers - saying they are allowed but still TSA discretion so we are going to give it a try! I am going to have the small eyeglass screwdriver with us so we can take the batteries out as soon as TSA is happy - don't want it turning on during our trip thru the airport/airplane! Holy Annoying!

I wish you luck!!!

Our stormtrooper blaster was carried on because the last time housekeeping cleaned she threw away the box it came in that was going to protect it in our soft sided luggage. It had been sitting in the same spot the whole trip and housekeeping hadn't touched it until...

Tsa at disney airports gets used to this though. We were flying out of lax, pleaded our case, and she let us through.

I'm a little concerned about our kids though, with bad guy weapons. ;)

Just figured I would report that we walked right thru with it - I think every 5th family had one similar!
