Life's a Happy Song When There's Someone by my Side to Sing Along* TR started! *

There's nothing in the world that makes you feel better when you're sick (or recovering) than Disney movie night! Love those

I didn't regret treating my girlfriend with disney movies, because I wanted to watch them for so long. It was the best time to stop studing and start watching Alladin and Little Mermaid. I didn't remember those two movies, because I was so young when I first watched them, so it was nice to watch them again ( I Loved Alladin)!!

Love your report so far! Can't wait to read more!

I hope you are feeling better after your procedure, Disney movies are always great medicine :goodvibes

Congrats on your engagement and upcoming honeymoon, we honeymooned there way back in 2011, it was great!!

So I can't tell the story of how we got engaged without telling the story of how it was supposed to happen. I spent months planning the perfect evening to propose and I had 3 back up plans built into the evening to make sure that it would get done. So obviously nothing happened as it was supposed to happen haha.

So this is a story of how all my plans fell apart and led to a very unique and special proposal.

Plan 1:
:) Spend the morning at Blizzard Beach
:) Head to the resort to shower and relax
:) Romantic supper at Narcoossee's
:) Take the boat to the Polynesian Beach
:) Watch Wishes in a semi-secluded/private area
:) Propose during Wishes
Backup plan #1
:) Hang out at Poly until the beach clears out then propose
Backup plan #2
:) MK had EMH till 2:00AM that night so we could head over there and I was sure that I could find some nice area around the castle to propose.
Backup plan #3
:) The next night we had the Dessert Party and the park closed early I thought that we could hang out around the castle as people moved towards the exit and then propose.

The problem is that I am VERY shy and I knew that I would not get down on one knee if there was a crowd around.

So what actually happened.
1. Dgf decided that she wanted to spend one more day at Animal Kingdom and asked if we could go to AK instead of Blizzard Beach for that morning (No Park Hopper so this meant we loss Backup plan #2). Well I wasn't going to say no and force her to go to BB then be in a bad mood. Anyways I thought there would be no reason that I couldn't do it at the Poly Beach so why not! One more day at AK.

So we spent a great day at AK leave early to prep for our supper.

P1050566.jpg

We have a great meal but unfortunately it goes on longer then planned so that when we come out of Narcoossee's Wishes is just about to start. So we head to the dock right in front of it. A large enough crowd starts to gather and I realize that there is no way that I would propose here. Furthermore, we couldn't even hear the music from Wishes so it was not the most romantic atmosphere.
P1050583.jpg
P1050596.jpg

By this point I am starting to panic. Wishes ends and instead of the crowd thinning out it's getting bigger because of people waiting to take the boat to MK for EMH. I offer that we go take a walk around GF or go explore the Poly but Dgf is in a bad mood because her sweater was very hot and she was starting to feel sick. Well there goes all my plans. I could of insisted but the last thing I wanted was for either of us to be in a bad mood when I decided to propose. So back to the resort we went. All along I had the ring burning a hole in my pocket.

At least I still had backup plan #3.

The Next morning was meant to be our last in WDW but Hurricane Irene intervened and cancelled our flight. All of a sudden I had 3 extra days in Orlando. This took the pressure off of that night. Which is a good thing because we where both EXHAUSTED. Things didn't go as expected that night and I think I got cold feet and missed my chance.

So here we where 3 days left in Orlando, 1 ring in my pocket and 0 plan!!!

Click here to see how I manage to convince her to marry me?

So now your saying: Good job! you went through 3 back up plans. What could possibly be better then something you planned 7 months in advance! Well I'll tell you what... SPONTANEITY

So I'll set the scene since I have like 0 pictures of that day.

I put a lot of thought into what our first ride in WDW would be. It needed to be a good ride theme wise so that DGF would "get" what Disney was all about and it also needed to be intense enough to grab her attention. Well that was a no brainer. Off to Tower of Terror we went... and went and went. I think we rode it three times in our first evening. It remained our favorite ride all week so we decided that we would spend our last day riding TOT as many times as possible. After our 10th time through we decided to go see Fantasmic. DGF's favorite nighttime show. Unfortunately it had been raining ALL DAY!!! so Fantasmic got cancelled just after the princeses' went by on their boats. It was about 9:55 at that point so we knew the park would be open for another 5 minutes. We make a beeline for TOT for one last ride. It is pouring rain and we are wearing bright yellow poncho's we get there right on time and they let a small group of us in before closing down. During F! I had slid the ring and box into my pocket because I realized that the poncho would prevent her from seeing the large box shape thing in my pocket. I briefly considered proposing on TOT but was much too scared of losing the ring. As we where the last group on the ride I knew that there would not be many people around when we exited the ride. I purposely stopped in the gift shop to tie my shoes, tiddy up the bag and put our poncho's back on. I was not going to let DGF's GO GO GO style stop me from proposing this time. We slowly walked through the gift shop and outside onto the terrace. It was RAINING hard!!! so we walked up to the little path next to TOT and I dropped my backpack on the ground. Of course DGF was already a few steps ahead of me so she turns around impatiently wondering why are you dropping your bag, is it too heavy?

and then I get down on one knee an VOILA! it's done. She says YES! then we hug and kiss and basically run out of the park we where so happy. Looking back we should of gotten at least a picture or something haha. I didn't take out my camera till the next morning at the airport.

That's a lot of Disney fun for day one! Great plans! All of those pictures are really making me want to be there.

I hope that you're doing well after your medical procedure. I love the movie choices! Tarzan is my favorite, but all three of them are up there on my list. :)
I forgot to bring Tarzan so we only watched The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. I just LOVE the soundtrack to those movies. My all time favorite is Beauty and the Beast Though.

I know we packed a lot of stuff into our first day but I don't think it's unreasonable. It just means we will be exhausted when we get home.

There's nothing in the world that makes you feel better when you're sick (or recovering) than Disney movie night! Love those
When I'm a doctor I'll have to look into the healing powers of Disney movie nights :P.

Thanks for reading so far :) I'm really looking forward to going to Disney for our Honeymoon.

With the wedding and the Disney trip coming up my fiancé and I have decided to start eating healthy and lose weight. So after months of paying for a gym membership that we don't use we decided to cancel it and join Weight Watchers. My mom has been on the program for some time and has had some great successes and she recently convinced my dad to join her for support. This got us thinking and we took the plunge. We went to our first meeting this morning and we will be counting the points all the way to Disney World. To keep me motivated I'll try to keep you guys updated on successes as they come :)

Thanks so much for reading. :yay::goodvibes

Study Music

So it's been a week since we joined Weight Watchers. We got weighted this morning and got some great news! I lost 3,4 pounds and my fiancé lost 0,9. So a great start for both of us. Hopefully the next weeks will go as well.

I think all of my motivation has gone towards the losing weight part of my life because I have an important exam this week end for medical school and I am having the hardest time focusing on my notes. I've been studying for weeks now and as the exam is approaching I feel like I haven't accomplished anything. I hope the next few days will bring me a good burst of motivation and confidence.

I'll keep this post short but I'll be back to talking about my trip next week. Thanks for reading this far.

Wish I was here instead!!

GREAT engagement story! I wish mine was half that great! Hope your exam goes well!

Joining in! Still chuckling a little at the Safari song. Yes, I listened to the music from each post!
Love the proposal story! :lovestruc The best laid plans never seem to work out the way we want, do they? But I like your spontaneous way better. :thumbsup2

Thanks for joining :). It makes me happy that you listened to the music I was beginning to worry that people might not notice the links. I love listening to Disney songs but I've been listening to them constantly since I started studying for my exam (which is in 2.5 hours ) so I've been searching for new tunes. I now have alot more to share over the next 154 day!!!

Soundtrack: Norway Stave Church Area Music

I am writing my exam this afternoon so I have stopped studying and I have decided to relax this morning. I sat on my porch and watched the snow melt. It is a nice 2*C this morning (35*F) which is very weird for March but I will not complain. As I was preparing to write this TR I found the area music for Norway's Stave Church. WOW so relaxing! Check it out by clicking on the link above. It is particularly fitting because that is where our first day in the park starts and the pace of the song hopefully matches our pace for the day!

Day 2:
One of the things that surprised me on our last visit was how much we enjoyed meeting the characters and taking pictures. We decided to sneak in a few more character meals this time around. We knew we wanted to dine with the princesses but I couldn't justify spending 2 credits to go to Cinderella's Royal Table. So our day starts bright and early (8:15) at...

AKERSHUS:
We get to meet the princesses and have a good meal to start the day. We didn't spend much time in Norway on our last trip so I don't have many pictures but here is one of DGF near the stave church as the sun was coming down.
P1040463.jpg

Normally our strategy would be to eat fast, see one or two characters then head to rope drop but we won't be doing that this time. Since I've learned that Test Track is going to be closed we have been toying with the idea of taking it easy in Epcot. We both love TT but don't care for Mission Space (Motion Sickness) and Soaring (see previous). So We will have a good b-fast then visit our favorite pavillions in Future World (The Seas, Innoventions and Imagination, ride Living with the land). If time permits I would like to do the Tour that is available in the Land Pavillion. I am hoping to be able to do most of that before WS opens because that is where we want to spend most of our day. On our last trip we didn't get to appreciate WS enough. This time we want to focus on it.

So QUESTION #1 Which side do you start touring World Showcase?

Our plan is to grab a Time's guide when we come in the morning and then plan our itinerary during breakfast. We want to see as many characters and as many of the world showcase players as possible while still enjoying one drink or snack per pavilion. We have a ADR at Le Cellier at 2:45pm so we need to leave room for the Cheddar Cheese Soup and the Pretzel bread.

Must do's in World Showcase:
Canada: See Off Kilter and eat at Le Cellier
UK: Drink a Guiness while listening to the Hat Lady
France: Orange Grand Marnier Slushy or Lemon Grey Goose Slushy
Morocco: QUESTION 2: what is the one food item that we need to try in Morroco.
Japan: Try the Sushi combo meal and listen to the drums
American Adventure: FUNNEL CAKES (THE BEST SMELL IN WDW)
Italy: Maybe try some wine. Any other suggestions?
Germany: Pretzel and german beer! oh and stop at the caramel Kuche
China: Maybe potstickers or Egg Rolls (suggestions?)
Norway: breakfast with the princesses
Mexico: Margaritas (even if it's only 11:00AM!)

Voila! Hopefully have that done in time to find a good spot to watch Illuminations. After illuminations, if we have enough energy we can hop over to Hollywood studios for EMH. I LOVE the Tower of Terror at night so my plan would be to ride over and over again until we can't stand then head back to POP for a good night's sleep.

So that's it! What do you guys think? I know it seems like a lot but I say shoot high but don't get disappointed if you can't do everything. TheKeeper let me know if I miss anything ok? :)

I like to start at Mexico! I'm not good with anticipation and the margaritas are my favorite thing that is edible in the world. And I can't help with question two because I've never eaten there! :)

We usually start in Mexico. We like to end up in Canada, that way when we've had a long day it feels like coming home. :lovestruc lol. Also we like to watch IllumiNations from the fence in front of the Canadian pavilion, so it's a nice place to stop.
Love the plans, I don't think it sounds like too much, especially since you'll be taking it easy.
The Norway music is putting me to sleep! I'm adding that to my "relaxing" playlist! :lmao:
p.s., currently 9 degrees in my slice of the woods! I'm also watching the snow melt!

Any drink recommendations?

It was 14 degrees here yesterday:eek: and today we're expecting 15 cm of snow  haha. That's the maritimes I guess.

I actually had a question for you. I read your TR from last fall and in it you where a bit disappointed because of the long walk to your room. We are staying at POP for our honeymoon and are debating paying extra for the Prefered Rooms but we're not sure if it's worth it. Do you have any thoughts?

Gotta love the crazy weather!

In '07 and '08, I paid for a preferred room and was super close. Once in the 60's, once in the 50's buildings. Close to the pool, close to the main building and close to the bus stops. We loved it, and we found that we got a lot of use out of our refill mugs because it wasn't too far to just run down for a refill.

In '10 we took our chances and did not book a preferred room. We were in the 70's building and loved it equally as much as the two previous trips. We were almost just as close and very happy with our room.

Last year we didn't ask for preferred and got in the 80's. (But I think that's because MIL changed things around at the last minute... can't shake that thought! lmao) It was a LONG walk to the main building and we definitely did not get our moneys worth of the refill mugs because it was just so far to walk just for a cup of fountain pop. The bus stops were far too and we ended up cutting through the parking lot. We talked to a few people who loved the 80's because they rented a car and it was so close to the parking lot, so I guess there is some advantage.

I think next time, we would pay for a preferred room. We got lucky in 2010, but I wouldn't want to risk being in the 80's building again.

Alright I'm on vacation for a whole week! My exam on Saturday was brutal but at least the whole class felt the same way. To make me feel better... here's an update.

Day 3: Hollywood Studios

On our 3rd day in WDW we will be going back to the Hollywood that never was at Hollywood Studios. Back home I still have to call it MGM because most people don't realize that the name has changed. This is me and DF's favorite park. In our opinion it has the best rides (TOT, RnRc and TSM), the best shows (B&B,LMA, VLM and Indiana Jones) and Animation Academy. I just love the feeling of walking through HS. It does however lack in counter service restaurants in our opinion so we booked TS instead. We will be spending 2 full days at HS.

Must do's on day 1:
*Be at the park for rope drop
P1040866.jpg

*Stampede to Toy Story Mania
P1040869.jpg
P1040875.jpg

* Ride TOT and RnRc
P1040876.jpg
P1040922.jpg

* Grab a cupcake at Starring Rolls
P1040927.jpg

*See the parade
We haven't seen the parade yet. We went back to our rooms for naps in the afternoon last time so we missed a lot of afternoon parades.

*Visit Animation Academy a few times
P1040895.jpg

It was Jess's birthday so the animator gave her his copy.

*Enjoy the Ambiance
P1040889.jpg
P1040934.jpg

Group of Cast Member's singing Happy Birthday to Jess.

*Supper at 50's Prime Time
We went here on our last day last August but we where so exhausted because of having stayed 3 extra nights that I don't think we really appreciated the restaurant as much as it deserved. So we are going back!

* See Fantasmic
The show got cancelled because of the rain on our last trip so we'll be seeing this show for sure.

Extra Magic Hours for this night are at Epcot till 1:00AM so if we feel up to it we will hop over there for more fun.

Thanks for reading! I'll be back soon to tell you what we have planned for day 4. Hint: It's the only place in the world where I will actually drink coffee.

The Avocado margarita is the BEST. We had to recreate it at home. It's so smooth and delicious.

I've never even tried avocados before so I can't even imagine what it would taste like but you are not the first person to tell me that the avocado margarita is delicious. I think I might just have to try it!

Thanks for the advice. We are seriously considering upgrading to a preferred room. We found the walk to our room at ASsports to be short but dreadful because of the heat last time so I can't imagine what a long walk would be like (we will be there mid-August :S)
