I'm curious to know if anyone on these boards did a CS or CP program with the lifeguard role? It seems like nobody wants it haha.

It's actually in my top two, other than attractions for a CS.

Is there anything about it specifically that makes you guys not want to do it? haha. I've been a lifeguard assistant at a swimming spring recently, so the lifeguarding job itself is okay with me. Just making sure there isn't any hidden things about lifeguarding at Disney that I wouldn't be particularly fond of. haha.

I do know someone who did that last year, no major issues but there are some minor ones. He had lifeguarded at pools and waterparks in his state, but you start with training and testing at Disney and it is strenuous, he didn't pass the first couple times and was very experienced. You have update training sessions during the program, usually very early in the morning. You are tested by your superiors regularly to make sure you are paying attention, You are in uniform around the pool in the cold sometimes, or of course the sun. Now the positives, it is considered a very good role, many CP's are jealous of the job, you can pick up extra shifts at any resort pool or the water parks, The pay is a little better, you are a sports employee so you have extra benefits other CP's don't have at other sports facilities like golf courses etc.

Thanks so much! :)

Luckily my dad's girlfriend is a very good swim/dive instructor, so she's been helping me with all of that, so I'll hopefully do good at the tests and stuff. haha.

I think that's definitely my top pick.

Work on diving in and bringing heavy objects (bricks etc.) from the bottom and getting them to the side and out of the pool. Seemed to be a highly stressed test for him when he did his.

Thanks for the advice! :)

What we're the "costumes" like? Was it bathing suit year round, or is there other attire worn?

Always the Red bathing suit, but in cooler weather they had shirts, jackets and warmup pants. The highly sought after article of clothing though, is the Red lifeguard baseball cap. They rarely come available and then it will be at one or two locations, so everyone was trying to get one all semester long.
