where are we going to be running to for our drill? inside/outside? in the sun?
gotta plan my 1st day's runnings (maybe DH will return the vests while I run DS and myself up to the sailaway party)

They will announce over the intercom where to go ...you won't miss the message even if you are in your room, you can hear it everywhere.

Yes I know they will announce it - but someone has had to have been in those SPRs and know exactly where to go - they dont change the location, do they?

DW mentioned something about it being outside. And hotter than you-know-what. And that was on October 3rd when they were in 5520. She was glad that they weren't the first ones there for the lifeboat drill. That way they got to stand near the front where there was the slightest hint of a breeze.

We were in 5500 a few years ago. The lifeboat station is on Deck 4 forward, right in the sun. Make sure to take sunglasses. It was pretty hot and miserable, but only took about 15-20min. Have a fun cruise!

You will find your lifeboat drill meeting location on a placard on the inside of you door. It will also give you directions on the proper way to get there. Most people start meandering that way a little before the drill time just to beat the crowds. What will make you mad is having to stand in the hot sun waiting for the jerks who don't bother showing up. Our opinion is that they should be shown the door before the gang plank goes up.
Take you camera and make some pics. It is a boring time.

If you end up out there in the sun, being hot, think of the alternative that we had. We were there when it was cloudy, spritzing, and lightning. We werent the least bit hot...and this was in July. So if you are sweltering out there for 10 minutes, count your blessings. ;) :)

We have been in the SPRs multiple times, and it is definitely outside!
I actually prefer outside...the station for 5650, the other stateroom we have been in quite a bit, is in Animators, and it is a crowded mob scene. I'd much rather be outdoors...just my personal preference.
Of course, I always joke with hubby that all the people at the inside stations are going to go down with the ship because there are really only enough life boats for the outside people! (Don't worry, in reality there are MORE than enough lifeboats for all).

As far as being early = being in the back... on our cruise they lined us up by stateroom, tallest in the back, shortest in the front.
