Life Of a CL!

I won't say this applies to everybody, but it's a good majority.

Pros:
- Huge satisfaction in helping out those who ask for it.
- Being appreciated for doing your job.
- Finding yourself in interesting trades.
- Hanging with staff while they are working the help button.

Cons:
- Getting the torch and pitchfork reaction when it comes to: people not being able to get into staff rooms, bad players getting away with stuff, having that once in a blue moon bad day when you're not as helpful as you could be, getting frustrated slightly when you get asked the same questions over and over again.
- You are expected to be rich...and usually they hate you for it if you are, thinking you only are rich because you are a CL.
- Being criticized for having staff on your list and are presumed to follow them around.
- Getting booted from games because you are "too good" just because you are a CL.
- Having to stop fights before they begin (and usually end up begin the one everybody yells at in the end).

:rotfl:

I was very suprised, I was asked a few questions in the Pirates Treasure room even thought there were a couple CL's there. It made me feel happy knowing that you don't have to be a CL to answer questions. :)

Pros:
-None. You're the same person as you were before

Cons:
-Like dragon said, You get the pitch fork and torch thing. Ouch. I just ignore the people who do that to me.
-Again, liek dragon said, we are expected to be rich. I usually ignore those people too.

That is false. While people like to believe you are the same as before and that you are just like every other vmk member, you are not. Once you become a community leader, you are given the responsibilty of raising yourself higher...what I mean is, you can't ignore a question about vmk, even when you don't feel like answering questions at the moment. You are expected to uphold a greater level of maturity in the game (that would be expected anyway, of everyone). The moment you sign into vmk you are on the job.

If you think you are just like everyone else, you have another thing coming.

Community leaders are expected to be rich simply because they have been playing the game for a while. You have to face it, most CLs do have a substantial amount of items because, well, CLs are active in the game and participate in every way possible. Doesn't make every CL rich, but doesn't mean they are as "poor" as members just joining.

There are more pros than cons in my opinion. My list would be this:

Pros:
1. The gratifying feeling you get after helping a player
2. Having members respect you and admire you for being a leader.
3. Knowing you are doing something to better vmk

Cons:
1. Encountering those who feel ALL CLs are rude...(but you are still able to handle the situation in a descent manner :goodvibes )
2. Being expected to be the "middle-man" of trades...(but helping out is somethings a good thing to do)

I agree, just because you have a CL_ in front of your name doesn't mean that you're one of the most popular people in VMK. There's nothing special about being a CL IMHO.

The fact that CLs must, it's not a choice you know, MUST take great responsibilty in the game. They cannont ignore questions (as I have said before). CLs are NOT like everyone else.

I agree with StitchfansJr, just because you're a CL doesn't mean you are better than everyone else. A good amount of CL's I have seen abuse what to them is "power"

Yeah, they are. They're just average players recognized for their knowledge of the game, with a badge and title for people to know they can help. They don't HAVE to help, nobody can make them.

It doesn't mean you are better than everyone else, just that you have more responsibilty than the other members.

They don't have to help...no, they can turn in their badge then.

Yes, they are average players...but with higher expectations.

That still doesn't justify the fact that many CL's abuse the title and responsibilites.

No, and I agree that some leaders abuse the "job". I also don't think those players should be community leaders.

I'd say that one benefit has to be that your name starts with C. Those that have names that start with letters at the end of the alphabet know what I'm talking about.

It's getting up near the top of someone's friend list! :rotfl2:

Quoted by GrapeWillow: "Great, now I only have 1 player on my list whose name starts with R"

Not all that good for the first week or so ;) People struggle to find you on their lists.
---------
Here are my pros and cons:

Pros:
- You get to actually see how staff use the in game help button. You may think it does nothing, but staff really do take it into matter.
- The feeling you get when helping other players :)
- The pretty badge (Not that important, but it's pretty!)
- You aren't ignored. Players do listen to you... most of the time

Cons:
- Players follow you around thinking that you have the power of a staff member.
- The _ in your name never gets shown when you play your song at the music game lobby.
- You get piles of friends requests (Since I don't delete them, I have 147 requests!)
- People call you ugly, and then you tell them to be nice to other players (since that is a rule), and then they just disappear in fear. I don't like being the bad guy!

Correct. But I was a CL about 2 hours before him ;)

And all us newbies have been lumped together several times as "bad choices". Lol!!! Ah yes...the dangerous lives of community leaders. ^_^

And I don't know if this will be a pro or con after hearing the stories of last year's, but with the maze event coming up, we'll most likely be needed to help out in the rooms.

Maybe not. Staff members were able to do the Door Maze all by themselves.
