Life insurance policy taken out without knowledge...need advice!!

Before you contact an attorney you can also contact your state DOI also known as the Division/Department of Insurance. They will be able to give you all the poop on the ramifications without there being any expense. They should have an e-mail addresses or toll free phone numbers. They probably have a website with a FAQ section which may even address all your questions.

Please call your state department of banking and insurance. I am an insurance/reinsurance attorney and I have been for almost 20 years.

I don't give advice to strangers on the internet, but I will tell you there have been some very wacky things stated on this thread about what is legal, illegal, appropriate and not, and you should know the truth from a reliable source. You can probably call on an anonymous basis if you just want to get an understanding of how responsible the grandmother may be for any of her behavior before you go further with it.

That was a sneaky agent making a commission I am sure. I would report the agent to whomever it is reportable, and the company also as they may be encouraging their agents to take advantage of little old ladies. I don't see any court sending a 97 year old grandma away for insurance fraud, please. There are plenty of people who take advantage of the elderly, and it disgusts me.
