Life Alert Medical System Question

My Mom has MS and about 6 months ago she fell and broke her ankle, had surgery and was in an assisted living place for awhile but is home now fortunately. I set up home health care for her for 7 - 7 daily and then my Dad is there the rest of the time. Mom doesn't really doesn't need someone round the clock anymore since she is able to do more and more for herself every day so we cut back the hours she has home health care. She and my Dad would drive each othe nuts if they were together all of the time so Mom now has big chunks of time she is home alone.

I told her the only way my brothers and I would agree to her cutting the hours for the home health care aide was if she got one those Life Alert systems so she could get help if she fell or needed help for any other reason. Do you have any recommendations for a company or system I should look into? I'm not even sure where to start.

My Mom's big concern is that a necklace or bracelet won't look good with all of her other jewelry She is just too funny!

I have one for my mom, I will give you a big heads up - if it is short term - watch the contract. The only acceptable termination of contract s long term admission to a nursing home. She has yet to use it (I have been home to call 911 each time)but it makes me feel more at ease when I go to work.

Check the handicap board, there are devices that actually are more like phone extensions you wear around your neck,

Any service you choose be sure that they have the correct contact numbers for your local police, fire and EMS. Some towns/counties/cities use different communications centers, or regional centers, and calling an incorrect # to the wrong dispatch center can cause significant delays in an emergency.

Also check to be sure any receiver will work outside if she goes out into the yard alot. Be aware of the boundaries beyond which the unit won't work so she stays within them.
