Hello all. I very much need and would appreciate your help. I am reaching out to you all of you very knowledgeable adult Disney travelers;
Can you please tell me what there is to do for a single 30-something after the parks close?

I have planned a trip for 5 adults to WDW Jan 24-31 2009, little over a month away. I have made multiple trips down with my partner however this will be the first one where we have my family joining us. It will be my mother, her husband (who are from Maine), my brother (33 who resides in New Jersey), my boyfriend (39) and myself (35, we reside in Seattle Washington). Its a mini magical gathering and we will be staying at OKW in a 2 bedroom.

The issue: my brother. I dropped the bomb on him today that PI has closed. :sad2:
He has recently gone to WDW with me in our adult life on a brother/sister "re-living our childhood" bonding trip. He. loved. it. Parks during the day, PI at night; :woohoo: he was in heaven. With this news that PI is closed he is threatening NOT to go on this trip.

Any input you can give me would be awesome and I thank you in advance for your time!

Regards,

-Erica
PS, add me to the list of the ones who want our Adventure's Club returned! Closing that place was a sin!

Jelly rolls, the ESPN Zone on Boardwalk would be the 2 places I would think of.

The Boardwalk has a little night life to offer. We always love going to Jellyrolls when we are without kids. The ESPN club is a nice place to enjoy a drink too. But Jellyrolls is by far our favorite place to go at night. The duelling pianos makes for some great entertainment.

Good to see another person from Washington on here! Definitely do Jellyrolls, it is a blast, especially on Tuesdays. Also at Downtown Disney they still have Ragland Road which is very nice and the House of Blues. Universal Citywalk is also great depending on where you are staying. I will miss the Adventurers Club and the Comedy Warehouse on my next trip but I would have to say any further single trips will now be at Citywalk.........Margaritaville is a blast!

Grab a cab for all of you and head over to City Walk..it is a blast.

Problem with Boardwalk is, unless you drive on your trip like I do, its difficult to get over there. You have to go from resort, to downtown disney, to Boardwalk, then reverse...kinda a hassle. With PI closed, I'm not sure if they stop the DTD busses earlier than they used to...if so, you could end up stuck at Boardwalk if its too late.

Perhaps they should work on that since closing PI?

Thank you all for your replies and giving me ammo to go back to my sibling with.

I did look into going to Citywalk, however the $30+ cab ride each way is rather steep. Boardwalk is definately an option, however we are looking for a place to dance.

Anyone been to Rix lounge at the CSR yet? http://www.rix-lounge.com/

Kimonos Lounge in the Swan has Karaoke Every Night! It's fun... especially since it's a Japanese Lounge. By the way, Karaoke in Japan translates to "Empty Orchestra".

Atlantic Dance can be fun too.

You may find a crowd at Atlantic Dance (Boardwalk) on Saturday nights but the other nights are dead. My experience with Rix is that although it's a beautifully done hotel bar, there are so many television monitors in there that it's more of a sports bar than a dance club (even though there is a DJ in there trying to compete with the televisions!) If you're stay includes a Sunday night and if you liked the music at Mannequins, be sure to go to House of Blues (Downtown Disney Westside) as it will be PACKED.

Quick tip.... if you do go to Boardwalk and don't drive.

Take a bus from your resort to DHS. From there, you can take a boat to Boardwalk or better yet..........
Walk over there..... it isn't far!

My DBF and I stayed at OKW a month ago and did Jellyrolls a few nights. We took a bus to DHS and a taxi home at the end of the night. I believe the taxi ride was just under $10 so it's very doable.

Enjoy!!! :goodvibes

And it is a lovely way to work off that dessert. I forgot about the DHS walkway, thanks!

Thank you BobK, excellent blog with just the information I was looking for. I very much appreciate it. You will see us on Sunday at the House of Blues. I am rather surprised that Rix is a more a sports bar. Sad.

Erica, you're welcome. My opinion of Rix was based on one Saturday night visit prior to PI closing. Maybe it's better now. Don't hesitate to give it a try to see for yourself.
