Life’s too short...to never sleep in a treehouse! 8/27 TR is up! Link in siggie

This is turning into a regular Jordan-esque report!! I have no idea what transpired between page 138 and 140, but I did read about Kelli's appalling behavior!!! Is she pathelogical?? Stupid? or just plain selfish?? Sounds like a combo deal to me.

:confused3 Regardless, very sad...

Bags. Moving on. eh- hem...

WAY TO GO, Eric!!! That is great! The humility will come. Don't worry, there are plenty of situations that inevitibly (sp??) come their way to instill that!

YAY! that things are getting wrapped up with the El Jobbo. Do you know your start date yet?? I think we may not see as much as Cynthia.... :sad1:

Oh I'll be around, no worries there...just not in the middle of the day so much!

And.... no comment.

:rotfl:

I really do try to take the high road most of the time. I don't always succeed but age really does help with that. I just don't have the time or energy or more accurately choose not to spend it there! I just find the whole thing sad, on many levels.

Truly though, it could be soooooo much worse. I count my blessing daily.

I"m drooling! Stop it!

The only "deli meat" we can get here is; chicken, ham and horse meat. All you would have to cut yourself.

Cut as in kill?

That could be a problem....vivid farm visits as a child listening to animal slaughter comes to mind. Some sounds never leave you.

Granted it didn't make me a vegetarian but still, no desire to hear/see it again.

Though I do need to visit the butcher tomorrow!

I remember as a kid spending every summer (2-4 weeks) at camp. It was a working ranch that was almost totally self-sustaining. Up near Lake Isabella, CA. Beyond wonderful experience!! Every Tuesday was slaughter day, and I never missed one. It was so interesting to me!!! They didn't let the campers watch them shoot the animal, but allowed them to watch the entire butchering process. I was totally mesmorized by how intricate everything was. I missed my calling.

No, we dont' have to cut our meat, as in butcher it, but sliced deli meat is totally non-existent. (sp?- again) When someone has a party here, they do slaughter a sheep or cow in the yard, and the last time our neighbors did this, I let my kids watch. I think had it been a shooting (non-xalal (clean for Muslims), so can't be done that way) rather than a throat cutting it would have been easier to watch- at least I thought. They sat and watched the entire process from tying it up to meat on the table. I'm glad they now know exactly where meat comes from (ie. NOT from cute, tidy styrofoam packages) and know the process. I was especially impressed with how they prayed to thank God for the meat they were about to receive from the animal. It was a very humble and touching thing in some ways.

OK, maybe that was TMI, but this is giving me some more ideas now for my blog, of which I am sadly lacking material for right now.

I can deal with the butchering part just fine and agree that it's actually pretty fascinating.

It was the sounds they made while actually being killed I had issues with. Dead and drained I can handle (boy does that sound BAD!).

My aunt lived in the wheat fields (literally) in Eastern Wa and had friends with farms that did their own butchering.

I agree, it is very good to know where what you eat comes from.

So ok, I could slice it myself were I to visit you in Blankastan and make us a killer sammie.

Heck, if I can fillet a tilapia tableside, I can do anything.

Not really. But I'd try!

You have 5 months left to plan a highly awesome and amazing trip over to the land of nothing. Well, actually, I could show you some pretty fabulous Islamic architecture (imagine Moroccan Pav. in WS) and we could get some super tasty horsemeat (see my thread) and have us a feast. Mmmm, hmmm!

Congrats on the Math Olympiad competition -- how cool!!!

Kelli sounds like such a...well, I am sure you can fill in the blank. ;) I admire your patience and grace when dealing with her. I don't know if I could do that!

Love the new bags!!! So stylish! :goodvibes

Oh and don't forget the fermented goats milk.

Now the architecture...that's I'd love to see.

And you and the kids of course!

Thanks!

You could if you had to, you deal with PARENTS all the time!

I do confess that we do occasionally break into song. As I mentioned we have started calling her Lady Blah Blah (after Lady Gaga), but it really originated at the Grammy's while she was performing and we were listening to the entry part of the song "Poker Face"

Which goes

Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah

and we decided that it's really

blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah

and so now every time the song comes on...we crack up.

It's horribly mean. But I think we are going to change the ring tone on Jeff's phone...

Shhh. Don't tell.

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2: I love it!!! :thumbsup2

It makes the droning on and on and on about whatever unjustly happened to K with sports for that moment and what other players didn't do (but of course K did) as well as her expert coaching analysis for what the team (either one) should do at any moment...a heck of a lot easier to bear.

At the end of the day it all doesn't matter. K isn't going to make varsity (nor in our opinion should she) no matter which sport she picks and no matter what happens...it will be our fault that she didn't.

We can live with that.

:worship: on the grocery spreadsheet. I've tossed the idea of comparrison shopping around forever, but never remember to actually do it.

I highly recommend it. Kind of a pain at first but now it's a godsend. It does of course reinforce my dorkiness...or well, really there is another word that's more appropriate and Jeff does make fun of me but....it's pretty cool!

And saves on scrap paper.

Wow - Can you say 4 pages behind in 24 hours!

Congrats to E for the Math Olympiad. That is awesome how he helped his team win that medal. :thumbsup2

Now a big thumbs down to Kelli (is that right?) or how bout a :headache: or a ....you make me . You are going to struggle with her right to the bitter end of this trip. Might as well just get used to it. It is ridiculous that you have to confirm all the dates with the AD and coach. Yes - the focus should not be on 9th grade soccer, but on 11th grade SATs and colllege. I know that all too well from having an 11th grader.

Very cute bags and wallet. And we have the same eyeglass case. So even though I don't have a cute Vera, I do have some stylish glasses.

Can't wait for some mo' Drama Drama!

No! No more drama! She can create all she wants mind you, we just refuse to mind.

Actually it really wasn't all that dramatic or unexpected. Just annoying but we are both over it, and are very used to it. I actually find it kind of funny as now that K is straddling the fence between sports her argument makes even less, she doesn't know anything about HS volleyball tryouts, anyone she knows that has gone through it, it has been for soccer only.

Good news is Jeff did call the AD yesterday and confirm what she told me via email as to the tryout date. Anything unofficial that Kelli thinks is happening before that is, truly, unofficial and thus, not required. So...whatever is what we say to that! If it really does start (this unofficial non existent thing that is in her mind) 2 weeks before tryouts...K can make 2 days of it. Which is better than nothing.

Tough bananas. Hopefully it won't get ugly and she won't put K in the middle...but I won't be surprised if it goes there.

Still no response on the SAT's and math tutor for T (of course).

I was drooling over some glasses at the eye doctor today...might be time for some new ones. They were SO cool! Changeable temples, you could order more than one color of temples and swap them out, very funky and fun. I want! And it may be time (sigh) to get a pair of progressives. He officially added them as an option to my prescription. I could easily live without them it's fine now but am wondering with the (hopefully new) job if I will find I am wearing my glasses more for everyday stuff as well as reading. Right now I just go without unless I'm driving or watching tv but....

Not that there is anything wrong with my old glasses. But they'd be lighter and smaller and that much easier to carry on vacation! And then of course I saw a cool pair of rx sunglasses....

:rotfl:

good thing my eyes were dilated, I couldn't order anything if I'd wanted to!

Hey there, loved all the pics of your bags and wallet, very cute purse! And your binder pages are so dang cute!

I must say I am impressed with your patience and your family dynamics, that cannot be easy. Congrats on the Math olympiad! :thumbsup2

Gee, your spring break is coming up fast, isn't it!!!! I can't wait to see your pics for spring break because it will get me excited for Disney Land, too! :goodvibes

Did you get that letter yet??!! Or did I miss that??!!! :upsidedow

Thanks!

No letter yet. Supposedly today...it is with the owners for review as of last night so just depends on whether they agree with what he put in there or not lol.

Spring break is coming up fast, thank goodness, I need a vacation!

I think patience, and letting things go, gets SOOO much easier the older I get. My sister and I were just discussing this the other day as she's struggling with our Bridezilla sister. My life got so much easier once I stopped being upset by Kelli, but knowing you need to let something go and actually doing it is a lot harder.

AAAAAAAACCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK

I need to breathe in the pretty colors and breathe out the bad.

Breathe with me.

I am falling off of my high road in a hurry. I need real life calm down vibes.

Kendall has a conflict this weekend.

A big one.

One that has been known about for months.

She has

For soccer. The first prelim game for state cup which is THE tournament of the year.

For volleyball. The northwest qualifier tournament which is a 3 day event on the other side of the state. Basically the equivalent of the soccer state cup prelim, just with volleyball.

When Kelli signed Kendall up for club vball, without our agreement, permission or even being informed until after the fact, it was explicitly agreed that in cases of conflict soccer would come first.

So what is she doing?

Taking Kendall to the tournament on Thursday. Putting her on a plane at some point during the day Sat whereupon Jeff is supposed to pick her up from the airport, take her to her state cup soccer game and then back to the airport to fly back across the state.

I'm sure both coaches must be THRILLED with this idea.

She is insane. Certifiably insane and Kendall will play like carp at both events as a result.

Holy moly. Kendall's in 9th grade, right?

I want to say that now you can remind the ex of that the next time you mess up and have a scheduling conflict, but I know that won't work.

She's in 8th. There isn't any mess up, the conflict has been known about forever. She just decided to change the agreement and then dictate our "role" in her master plan of having cake and eating it too.

Sounds like crumbs all around to me. Honestly if I were either of the coaches I would say all or nothing dude. My gut is she will get punished for it with soccer by a lack of playing time but of course Kelli will blame that on the coach being shortsighted not Kendall's commitment to the team or recent performance.

It really embarrasses me to be honest, with both teams.

Heavens, if she had her way...and holy carp a really awful thought just occurred to me...she'd have Kendall try out for both soccer and vball for HS and then pick which one based on what team she gets on.

Holy carp. I bet that's what's really going on.

Sorry, I'm venting big time. I need to stop.

But hey, this one has nothing to do with our trip!

:rotfl:

blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah

I need my poker face.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I had progressives as my first pair of glasses ever. They were so awful. I rarely wore them. It was such a big mistake to get them having never worn glasses. I just got my current distance glasses specifically for driving and I like them so much better.

That is so ironic that K is now thinking about volleyball. I hope Kelli has her Xanaz prescription ready! ;)

Forget about her and focus your energy on Kendall...energy better spent there. Help her get through this weekend. Forget about K...at least for now, you really can't do anything to change the situation....Kendall is the one paying....How can you be there for her. Be of support to her. Be a positive light to her....
