Look what showed up on my facebook feed today:

"You can now borrow Kindle books from more than 11,000 local libraries in the U.S. and read them on any Kindle or free Kindle app!"

I know many of us have been waiting for this, and I hadn't seen anyone post about it yet.

It took me until tonight to explore it, but I borrowed my first library book to my kindle...yippee!

...now just don't get me started on what they did to facebook!

Yea! I've been waiting for this. We got my mom a Kindle for her birthday and she loves it, except for not being not be able to borrow from the library. Going to check it out! :thumbsup2

(Maybe this will take my mind off what they did to Facebook. :headache:)

My wife is going to be so excited.... Thanks for the heads up!

Apparently, my county library system isn't one of the them. I just checked their website and no mention of Kindle anywhere. :confused3

For a while they have had audio books you could download, but I would like to see Kindle books too.

I uploaded a book to my Kindle app on my Droid (DH took the Kindle on a business trip) and am here to report that the process was easy! However, there were not a lot of books to choose from that didn't have a hold on them. I'm hoping that the selection increases as the months pass.

My library isn't one of them either. It is only available from libraries that offer digital services from Overdrive. My library doesn't use it, but I'm going to ask about it the next time I'm there. Hopefully, if enough people ask, they'll get the message.

Wow, our library does use Overdrive to let us download the audio books. If that's the case, you'd think we'd have Kindle too. I'll have to ask one of the librarians next time I go to see if they know anything about it.
