I wanted to make a reservation for Liberty Tree for dinner for January 2009, but the CM told me that it would no longer be a character dining experience after January 3rd (I think that was the date given). Has anyone else heard this? I asked if the menu was changing and the CM didn't know. So now I'm not sure if I still want to go there or not because one of the main reasons was that it was a character restaurant.

Yes.sadly it is true, I think it has been up here on the boards for well over a week now.Not sure what they are doing to the menu if anything yet.

:confused3

I think it is sad that they are cutting the number of character meals when it seems they are difficult to obtain to begin with.

Are they moving more to just having them at Disney resorts as an extra perk to get more folks to stay in the parks?

January 4th was the date they gave me as the last day of character dining at LTT. We have an ADR there on Jan 5th.

I have never eaten here for dinner (the menu just didn't excite us). I would love for them to have an expended regular dinner menu with regular items (not buffet) now.

I think they're also trying to play to an older audience that doesn't want so many character meals (with the premium price attached). We went a couple of years ago with a 16 year old, and were not happy that there were so few table service meals without characters.

I was dissappointed when I saw that LTT was doing away with character dining. We wanted to try it when we went next May. Well, we'll be saving some money there.

I wonder why they are doing that?

I think one of the reasons they are getting rid of it is cost saving, and another is that there are 5 TS restuarants at MK.As of right now 3 are character dining. Not everyone wants to eat with the characters all the time.I also think the reason character meals are hard to get into these days is the advent of the dining plan.It truly makes the character buffets more cost effective, especially for larger familes.

 We were just informed that Garden Grill at Epcot is no longer having character lunches anymore. I got the call from WDW stating the last day is 10/6 and they were only doing the character dinners so now :confused3 we have to look for another lunch place. Disney seems to be cutting down their choices for character dinning in general.

It's true. I'd like to know what they're doing instead. Perhaps just a menu similar to lunch? That fits the theme well, but I did enjoy the character dinner.

Yes it is true - no more character dining at LTT. If you go to allears.net and pull up the page that has all the menus you can click on the LTT menu and at the top it says no more character dining as of January 5th I think. I know it's early Jan.

Because it is being discontinued it's one of the reasons we are going. We wanted to try it and once we heard it was going to be no more we booked for October when we're going.

I hope they leave the dinner menu as is. We enjoy the offeriengs! :thumbsup2

ITA! I never liked their turkey meal at dinner time (although I'll miss the characters). However, I love the lunchtime offerings (their main course salad, with the apples, walnuts, etc. is my favorite meal at WDW) and would love to see a menu similar to lunchtime. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

We will be having our last character dining meal at LTT when we go in October. Its too bad because the character interaction at LTT has always been great.

Sad but true. :sad2:
We always enjoy eating here for our MVMCP night. I guess this year might be the last. I just like the whole thing, the characters, food, atmosphere. Won't be the same without the characters.
