Just wondering how LTT is I have not been there since 2006 going during Easter break and a lot of table services are booked. Loved LTT when we went is it still character dinning?
LTT is no longer character dining. Personally, LTT is one of my least favorite options. DH says it's his least favorite restaurant in WDW and refuses to go back. Maybe we just went on a bad night, but we had poor service and the food was bland and mediocre at best. However there are a lot of people on DIS that love LTT. You may go and have a great experience. Since there aren't a lot of TS options in MK, I would book a TS at one of the monorail resorts. You will have options for character dining that way as well!
LTT no longer has characters. Lunch is a la carte and dinner is the standard family style dinner. To be honest, we never really liked LTT. In fact, the only reason we went there was for the characters. I agree with PP. There aren't any good TS in MK so I would suggest going to one of the monerail resorts.
I am now in the habit of scheduling LTT for lunch on our first MK day. We love the lunch there and the chance to chill at a low key sit down restuarant. Declaration salad is awesome as is the ooey gooey toffee cake!
My whole extended family (10 peeps) went last Feb and all loved their lunches, admittedly most offerings are on the heavier side with roasts and thanksgiving like fare. But my mom felt is was good "home cookin" with tender flavorful meats. Note that we just snacked by the pool for dinner that night!
Our family enjoys LTT too. We've dined there numerous times for either lunch or dinner. Another for the toffee cake. Not having the characters there any more is a big plus for us and we enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant as well. Some folks don't care for the family style dinner, but we have always liked it (although we may be one of the few who actually don't like mac and cheese)

As a family we enjoyed the food at LTT. As others had pointed out, the characters are gone, but we still enjoy it. For one, we have picky, non-exploratory eaters, so the food choices generally appeal to them.
LTT was our least favorite meal on our last trip. Just, eh. It was also the only place we had a long wait to be seated out of all the restaurants we went to on a busy spring break trip. I don't think I could get my husband to go back there even if I wanted to.
We ate at LTT for the first time in September, as we were running out of options that a) sounded appealing, b) we hadn't already tried and c) worked well for a group of very limited eaters. We were so pleasantly surprised that we visited again in Dec and we'll be back in May. We went for lunch each time; eating family style is difficult to impossible. But lunch has been great!
One of our favorite meals all week! We ate at a lot of great restaurants and this was still right up there with them. The pot roast and mashed potatoes was fantastic! Be sure to try the ooey gooey toffee cake for dessert

We used to love it but the place seems to have gone downhill during our past few trips. Wilted salad, changing the ham for porl, etc. Also, Disney signed a deal with Ocean Spray so the dessert there is now some nasty cranberry bread pudding (although my wife actually likes it)..
