Liberty Tree Tavern

We do LTT every trip. We really like the food there, my DH is crazy for their green beans  . I'm kind of bummed, because on our next trip we'd like to maybe try CRT for dinner, so we might not be able to do LTT. :sad1:

I *love* comfort type food such as stuffing, mashed potatoes etc. But I didn't think the stuff served at LTT was good at all. Nowhere near as good as homemade. However we really enjoyed the wider variety and superior (IMO) foods at Crystal Palace.

Has anyone celebrated a birthday at LTT? We are going April 5th and it's my 13 yo son's birthday. Do you suggest this? Do they do anything special?

I am so glad to read all the great reviews since we will be eating dinner there in June. The last time I ate at LTT for dinner was before they changed the setup, so a long time ago. Sounds yummy!

i've always wanted to try it also. my kids aren't into characters and doesn't seem interesting enough for them at lunch so i decided to wait and book for my trip with mom at lunch time. i think she will love it! comfort food...right up our alley.

We don't do character meals anymore, but we have done this one in the past and we have enjoyed it. We prefer LTT for the character-free lunch. The turkey dinner served at lunch is still decent, so I'm sure the dinner (which has the same turkey, stuffing, and potatoes) is still good. We think Stouffer's Mac & Cheese, which is what is served here, is the only decent mac & cheese at WDW.

My kids love LTT for lunch. They swear those are the best burgers served at WDW.

I have been looking for some positive reviews of LTT. We are scheduled to eat there the last day but I have read some negative and was considering changing to Kona Cafe. It sounds like many of you feel the food is really good here so we may stick to original plan.

We LOVE LTT! We eat there every trip, this year we are even planning on lunch one day and dinner another. Very good meal, nice change of pace from the buffets and burgers at a lot of places.

I'll be the opposing opinion then!

We did NOT like the food at LTT. The stouffers mac & cheese is not my kid's favorite kind of mac & cheese. The veggie had too much pepper. The meat was alright although the turkey was a bit dry.

The only thing I really liked was the salad dressing and the butter and rolls.

We LOVE CP for breakfast and dinner. It's one of our favorite buffets/restaurants.

Now, I've never eaten there for lunch but I've heard that LTT is much better for lunch than dinner. You get an actual menu to choose from as well.

Personally, we have found that the food at all the character meals we have been to has been decent, nothing to write home about. If we were judging on food alone we might not return to some of them. That being said, we are there for the character experience which we love!! If I get a decent meal or better, I am happy. We are doing three character dinners during our next trip (LTT, Garden Grill, Princess Storybook) and I chose each one, not because we want a great meal, but because my DD5 loves Chip and Dale, and Princesses. That makes is worth doing everytime!:)

we always eat dinner at LTT - it is a must for us!! we definitely have it booked for our upcoming trip this Sept. the food IMO is very good - i could eat the dinner rolls w/honey butter as my entire meal - in fact i almost did on this past trip (8 to be exact). i think this year i'm going to go for 12 dinner rolls...:rotfl:

Wanted to get peoples opinion of Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. Specifically is the food at the Liberty Tree Tavern pretty much like the food at the character dinner at the Crystal Palace? We aren't snobs about food at all - burgers and fries are fine. But, last year, we ate at the Crystal Palace and actually were kind of disappointed. We thought that the turkey seemed like it was cut off a processed turkey roll and that some of the other food wasn't all that tasty at the Crystal Palace. If the food at Liberty Tree Tavern is similar, we might pass. I appreciate the opinions.

i everything everything is a matter of opinion, and different people have different taste buds-- but i know we loved Liberty Tree!!! But we did not care for Crystal Palace. Liberty Tree to us was like a thanksviging dinner, and very delicious, Crystal Palace to use seemed like a typical buffet and was just ok. I do not think you would be dissapointed in Liberty Tree we actually eat there twice during our trips but that is just my opinion:woohoo:

Based on what folks wrote, we tried the Liberty Tree during our recent trip (President's Week) and we really liked it. We thought the dinner was much better than the Crystal Palace. It's basic comfort food (turkey, ham, roast beef, potatoes, stuffing, etc.) but it was good...couldn't stop eating the honey-butter on rolls! We also liked the small "colonial tavern-like" setting much more than the Crystal Palace which we'd found to be huge and noisy and "too busy". The character interaction was well organized as the characters came around to each table and the staff was great.

Frankly, as a family of three (2 adults and 1 young teen) we just wanted to try LTT and the fact that it was a character dinner wasn't that important to us. I do sort of agree with what an earlier poster said about the character meals consisting of "decent" but not outstanding food. But, we were on the dining plan for 6 nights and had reservations for table service at five other restaurants at WDW including Mama Melrose, Captain Jacks, Kona Cafe, Wolfgang Pucks, and Tutta Itali. And, at the end of our trip, just for fun we voted as a family to "rank" our dining experiences based on the food, service, & atmosphere. Here's where we ended up:

1) Kona Cafe
2) Tutta Italia
3) Wolfgang Pucks
4) Liberty Tree
5) Mama Melrose
6) Captain Jacks

So, we ended up ranking LTT higher than 2 more traditional restaurants...although Mama Melrose and LTT were really close. Of course, everything depends on what you order and other factors.

I've eaten at both CP& LTT. I've only ever had lunch at LTT and it is one of my favorite restaurants..love the turkey dinner, the pot roast and the clam chowder as an appetizer.

I've always done CP as a dinner, but this time we have breakfast on our first full day of our trip.

I'm fairly tolerant when it comes to my meals...not one of those food snobs.

We REALLY enjoyed the meal at the Liberty Tree Tavern. The character interaction was fantastic and the green beans were AWESOME.
