Liberty Tree Tavern Help - Please!!!

Hi all

I'm with my family now agreeing our ADR's for our June trip. Our 180 day for most of our requirements is in 9 days time, but for our first day in MK - its TODAY!!!

Is LTT a buffet? We would like to go for lunchtime and I'm sure the guidebook I'm reading (the Unofficial one...) says that its kind of a buffet - its all you can eat at a set price but you choose from a menu and get as much as you want served to your table.

Is this right? Is LTT a nice place? It would be for our first meal at Disney on our holiday but my family aren't that keen on buffets...

Lunch at LTT is not a buffet...it is just a normal " order off the menu" meal. Dinner at LTT is a character meal that is served on a family style platter at your table. It is my understanding that you can also request more of whatever you wish. It is also "thanksgiving" type food.

The Characters (Mickey and Friends) are dressed in Revolutionary-style clothes.

LTT is neither a buffet or an all-you-can-eat restaurant at lunch. You order straight off a menu for lunch-- just as you would in a traditional restaurant.

At dinner, it is an all-you-can-eat affair with the food being served "family style". They bring the food to your table and if you want more, they'll bring more. The menu is pre-set for dinner though -- meaning you don't get to decide what you eat, they serve the same thing to everyone at dinner at LTT.

The food at LTT is served family-style at dinner. A bowl of salad is served to your table first. Then, platters of ham, flank steak, and turkey (if I recall correctly) are brought to your table along with bowls of mashed potatoes, dressing, green beans, and macaroni and cheese. I think (if I'm remembering right) that the dessert is served family-style as well.

However, I think lunch is different from dinner. I think, at lunch, everyone in your party orders separate entrees from a menu.

We enjoy LTT for dinner, and it's normally our 1st meal at WDW.

Thanks so much everyone! We're going with an early-ish dinner since it will be our first full day on holiday and we might be a bit tired / jet-lagged so an early night might be needed!

I'm holding for ADR people now, fingers crossed I get something for 1st July.

If we eat early - say around 4.30 to 5pm ish... will the characters definitely be there?

I suggest going for dinner since it's just plain fun. You can get a dinner reservation for around 4:30, and if you'll be in the park earlier, you and your family can get some snacks or something to tide you over so that you're not starving, but will be hungry enough at 4:30 for a good meal. And yes, the characters will be there -- Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and Chip and Dale were there when we had dinner at 4:30 in December. Have a magical time!

Dinner starts at 4:00, so I would think that by 4:30 at least, there would be characters. We actaully haven't eaten there, but have 4:10 reservations for our First day at MK...I have heard lots of really great reviews, and am looking forward to it!

Hey everyone!
Thanks again for the replies... I got through to WDW DINE last night and was told I'm one day early! So I called earlier and we have a ressie for 5.10pm - a character dinner!
Am very excited as its our first ADR!!!

LTT was our favorite character meal! We loved that the characters came around twice to our table. We never felt rushed during our meal at all. GREAT FOOD! Have fun!

We had a wonderful time there at dinner. The characters interacted more with my family than at any other meal. My dd(almost 3 at the time) is very bashful and wouldn't give Goofy a hug. He pulled up a chair beside our table and sat that and sulked for 10 minutes straight. It was hilarious -- all of the other characters were coming by to see what was wrong with him. Lots and lots of interaction. She finally got up and gave him a hug and then he went skipping around the entire room - and came back and hugged her over and over. I'm not sure how much eating my kids did because of the characters but I thought the food was good.

This restaurant also stands out to me on the Disney service. My ds6 (was 5 at the time) is allergic to latex. We had to meet with the Chef's at every restaurant we ate to determine if they prepare their food with latex gloves. The chef prepared him his own plate of food that had been prepared by him gloves free. No 5 y/o in the world could have eaten all the food on that plate - I think it could have fed our entire family. My son's eyes bulged when he (the Chef himself) sat it down -- it was a serving platter heaping over with every item on the menu. He also got new just opened napkins and utensils.
