I've wanted to try Liberty Tree for years but hubby didn't see much that appealed to him. The new chicken and dumplings might get him through the door if they are the noodle type dumplings instead of the large biscuts type on top. Has anyone tried them yet or better yet, have a picture?

I'm interested in the answer to this too! The menu says 'slippery' dumplings so I am guessing they are more of a thick noodle. I've had these kind at Cracker Barrel and they are really good. Hope someone can post a picture soon, cuz this is probably what I will have too since they did away with the chicken/pasta dish..:(

I've not eaten the dish myself, but while we were there, a young lady at the table next to us ordered it. It reminded me of Chicken Soup with huge noodles. I hope that helps.

Does this place serve chicken nuggest, by any chance? I've always wanted to eat here, but the menu has never been particularly appealing..

Ive never seen dumplings like that either.. ha I dont mean to hi-jack your thread but does anyone have a picture of the veg potpie? I've been thinking of trying that.

I had this in Nov 09 (pic in my link) and it was more like a very thick chicken stew with wide noodles. It was incredibly delish and my hubby and I polished it off. Def not your standard chicken and dumplings

That looks like a bowl of chicken soup! I'm so mad because they replaced the pasta dish with this and I loved their pasta dish! The pot roast is very good.

Glad to hear a positive vote for the pot roast. I was wondering what was considered the "house specialty".

Wow--that doesn't look like any chicken & dumplings I've ever had. They must not be "southern style." :goodvibes

Looks like good ol' North Carolina chicken and pastry to me! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Just like cornbread and bbq, you'll get intra-southern squabblings over the "right" way to make it. This is not the way it's made in my family, but DH's grandmother makes it the noodle-ish way. But go figure, we also disagree on the "right" way to make cinnamon toast :rotfl:

Thanks PP for posting the link with the photo. I might have ordered it otherwise expecting something different.

Don't know about the dumpling but the Pot Roast is great. We also were in the park on Thanksgivng one year and had our Holiday meal there - Turkey and all fixings and I must say it was the best. Only drawback for me was you could not get anything to drink at that time in the Park.

Doesn't look like MY grandma's North Carolina chicken and dumplings:lmao:s!

Carrots?? I never seen the likes!:lmao:

DH got it last year. It's like chicken noodle soup. The server warned us ahead of time about the dumplings, so he knew what he was getting.

I had it just yesterday and it comes served in a bowl and is basically chicken noodle soup. It's good, but I didn't know what slippery dumplings were and had envisioned something different. The clump of noodles on the bottom of the bowl tasted a bit like dumplings should, but most of it tasted like noodles. I was disappointed, but it was really good as long as you are thinking in terms of soup and not chicken with potato dumplings and gravy. Oh, and it's a bit over-priced for soup. Next time I'll probably get the pot roast or turkey.
