Unless there is a "Special Event" (MNSSHP) happening, its just a ride in a circle around that "river".

There are various "sights" on the river bank that you see, and there is a recorded audio "spiel" that stars Sam (Mark Twain) Clemmons as your pilot and guide. Just a pleasant boat trip as in days-gone-by.

I think of it in the same terms as the MK's WDW Railroad, if one boards and exits from the same station.

We went on the boat ride 2 years ago when we were at WDW, we hadn't been on in years. I'm glad we went on, it's one of those attractions people overlook. :( It was a good way to relax and go on an attraction at the same time :hourglass . There's no big drop hidden around the bend :scared1: or the boat doesn't start shaking violently or pretend to sink :scared: , it's just a boat ride in a circle :boat: , but a nice one and sometimes I think a forgotten one :sad1: . But I will say this, if you haven't been to Disney often and want to get your share of thrill rides, then you should definitly go for what you went there for, but if you have a little extra time or just want a "time out", think about riding the "forgotten boat"!! :charac2:

I think it is definitely worth taking the time to ride at least once.If you ride on the top deck, you get a really different view of Frontierland that you can't get anywhere else. Also,it is about to return from an extensive refurbishment,so it should look as good as it ever has since it was new. :)

We enjoyed a moment of relaxation & got great pictures on the ride. With all the pirate craze, maybe Capt. Jack will make a trip up river and pillage.:teeth:

Another good thing about the riverboat is that they let you bring food on... So rather than sitting on a park bench while eating that Giant turkey leg or ice cream, take the boat around. It's only 20 minutes, and you spent it doing something rather sitting around while you finish eating... :sail:

Besides that it is a really steam powered vessel, so if nothing else, it is a piece of history. The ride is slow and peaceful, a nice way to take a break from the rush of the park...just don't go on expecting a seat as the themeing is true to the time so there are not many available. Side Wheel riverboats were passenger vessels, stern wheel boats where for cargo, so being that it is a stern wheeler, the seating is limited as a vessel of it's kind would not have been carrying many passengers.

This sounds interesting... I take it the boat is decorated for the party... I would guess the audio is different for the party... but are the "sights" different too? :listen:

It was closed for refurbishment when I was at WDW in Feb. Hope it is open in Nov so I can get on it!! Sounds kind of nice and relaxing! :)

Yep! Already checked, it should be running! This is actually the first time it'll ever be running while I'm there . . . two times it was being refurbished, once the dock was being worked on.

In the past (when the boat was operating during the party) there were CM's aboard who told Halloween stories to guests during the voyage.
I've read that may be the case again this year.

(2005)** Liberty Square Riverboat has storytellers and musicians for a lovely event experience! Be sure to get there early in your evening, as they stopped running the boat after the fireworks at 9PM!
