Liberer le souper separe deux (with pics) *Update 11/17 Complete!

Your kids are too too cute! :goodvibes

And while I would never eat that banana on a stick thingee, I love the caption: yummo on a sticko! :lmao:

Can I borrow that in my next review if it's a fitting picture? I'll give due credit ... :flower3:
Thanks for the compliment about the kids.:flower3:
That's Buzz's quote and he is thrilled to get a compliment here on the DIS and more than happy to share.

Cute kids! The pics are amazing too! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the kind words :flower3: and welcome aboard.

The next installment should be up tonight.:goodvibes

*I should mention that we brought little boxes of cereal in our suitcases as well as some snacks like crackers, Oreo's etc... Most mornings we just had cereal in our room. I also bought the little Kool-Aid packets and when we got thirsty in the summer sun/ heat we just got free ice water from the nearest CS and turned it into something drinkable.*

Copy2ofDSCN1207_0119_287.jpg

Our second day we headed to Blizzard Beach. We had cereal in the room and headed out. We got there at park opening but the place was packed. In fact, this was the only place where we really encountered big crowds. It wasn't too surprising considering that Faye had just left a few days prior and this was the 1st day in many where the forecast was for nothing but sun. We decided we didn't want to take time out of the touring (mainly because the kids wanted to try everything and we had a limited amount of time) so we had Kool-aid and crackers (doesn't that sound good  ) and then we went to the little hut near the pre-teen area and got ice-cream. Interestingly, the receipt says Hotdogger Cart but they sold ice-cream not hot dogs. :confused3 We got 4 waffle cones, 1 chocolate (me), 2 twist (Grammie and Buzz) and 1 vanilla (Alice). We were able to use a snack credit. These were actually quite good. The cones were nice and fresh and they were very generous with the ice cream portions. All in all, quite yummy and filling.:thumbsup2

We had a 5:35 ADR at Whispering Canyon Cafe. I had tried to get a later one but they were booked solid. So, we brought our change of clothes with us and figured we'd go from BB straight to the WL allowing us the maximum time at BB. As luck would have it, a WL bus was there as we exited so we ran for it and made it and were on our way.

Whispering Canyon Cafe
I picked this place mainly because I had never seen WL before and I figured this would be a good excuse to go there. As we were going up the walkway, I stopped to take this pic:
Copy2ofDSCN1210_0116_284.jpg

and a lady behind me starts SCREAMING to the man with her that they will have to go the other way into the Lodge because of the lady stopping to use her camera. :scared1: This woman was a loon! Ranting and raving about the 10 seconds it took me to take a pic; it's a point and shoot digital for heaven's sake! Everyone was happy to see them go the other way. I know I digress, but we saw her later when we checked into WCC and she looked just as miserable then. I felt bad for all the people traveling with her.

Thanks to the timely bus we were there early and used the time to freshen up and check out the lobby:

Buzz and Alice on the bridge. Alice was thrilled to find a place to use some of her pennies that she'd brought.
Copy2ofDSCN1212_0114_282.jpg

We checked in at the WCC podium and I politely asked if I could have a seat in the main dining room. I learned this on the DIS and it is a must if you want to be part of all the action. The kids barely had time to play with the Lincoln Log table (cute touch!) and we were being shown to our seats.

Continued in next post....

Our server was Alberto. He was good. Loud and fun and very into all the action.

A couple restaurant pics:

The drinks:
I mention the drinks because we (except Grammie) did not order the usual sodas/ juice/ iced tea here.
Me: Strawberry Orange Smoothie
Copy2ofDSCN1216_0110_278.jpg

Buzz had the smoothie of the day (mango) and Alice had a Vanilla Milkshake. All were include on the DDP. (Not sure what's up with Alice's eyes here.)
Copy2ofDSCN1215_0111_279.jpg

These were all delicious!

Buzz, Grammie and I all ordered the skillet and Alice ordered the kids' pasta/ chicken. Note about the kids' meals here: they will not let you substitute. This was not a problem for us, but may be for some. Buzz's meal still came with appy even though he got the skillet, so he got watermelon which I don't seem to have a pic of. :confused3

They brought out the corn bread and the salad that came with the skillet. Here is the corn bread:
Copy2ofDSCN1217_0109_277.jpg

Both were good. We especially enjoyed the corn bread and all 4 of us had some.

THE ENTREES
Alice's kids' meal:
Copy2ofDSCN1219_0107_275.jpg

She ate the pasta and then declared she was full. Which she probably was because of all the corn bread she had eaten plus the milkshake. At home she is good about eating her fruits and veggies. But, really, who would choose those when there is corn bread and a yummy milkshake in front of you?

The skillet:
Copy2ofDSCN1218_0108_276.jpg

They bring one skillet to the table but put more food on it based on the # of people who ordered it. It is also all you can eat, but we did not need to ask for more. It includes ribs, pulled pork, peel & eat shrimp, roast chicken, beans and corn on the cob. They also bring out some barbecue sauce to go with it.

We all really enjoyed this. I've read mixed reviews about it but ours was great. My personal favs were the ribs and chicken.

Buzz- I really liked it a lot. The ribs were my favorite. This is a really good choice for a kids' meal because you get to have the same things as the adults.

Continued in next post....

In spite of being really full, for dining report purposes we ordered dessert. (included on the plan)
Buzz got worms in dirt: Gummy worms in chocolate pudding with oreo crumbs. (sorry, no pic)
Buzz's opinion::yay: Mine:  :rotfl2: Seriously, this was one of the most interesting kids' menu dessert choices we saw all week.

Me: Banana Dustbowl
Copy2ofDSCN1221_0105_273.jpg

I'm not a big vanilla ice cream fan, but this was really good. The bananas foster sauce on it really jazzed it up.

Grammie: Cheesecake
Copy2ofDSCN1222_0104_272.jpg

Very good, but not as good as the dustbowl.

***While we were eating we were also busy shouting, singing happy birthday, doing the hokey pokey and the kids' were delivering ketchup bottles all over the place and racing stick ponies.
Buzz - I came in third!:thumbsup2
Copy2ofDSCN1220_0106_274.jpg

This place is very loud. Do not go here if you are looking for a peaceful meal!

Buzz - WCC had a really good atmosphere and it was fun!

Our rating:
Food: 4/5
Atmosphere: 5/5 (Just know what you're getting into!)
Service: 4/5

Up next: CRT lunch and the dinner disaster a.k.a. the DISer makes a mistake

Tuesday morning was cereal/ fruit/ crackers etc... in the room again so we could hit MK at opening. We left in plenty of time, but with a few technical bus hitches and some terrible traffic we made it just at the end of the opening ceremony. After a morning of touring a ridiculously quiet MK (presumably everyone goes on Sun. / Mon. after their arrival) where we actually ran into some friends from home.....It's a Small World After All.....we headed here for our lunch:
Copy2ofDSCN1230_0096_264.jpg

This was Alice's pick of restaurants for the week.

Our ADR was for 12:05. Grammie and Alice headed to a bathroom so that Alice could put on her gown, and Buzz and I waited in the check-in line. The line was very long and moving quite slowly.:scared1: People were in a bit of a tizzy. Anyway, once we got to check-in, the process was very quick. We then had to wait in another line for about 10 min. and then they let us inside the castle to yet another line.:rotfl2: However, at the end of this line was the lady of the hour:
Copy2ofDSCN1252_0075_327.jpg

A photo with Cinderella is included with your meal. We had the CM take a picture of all of us, as we didn't have one of everyone yet. The picture is delivered to your table in a nice little portfolio. There is a large photo on one side and a photo of the castle on the other. 4 smaller 4" by 6" photos are also included. It's a nice memento. :thumbsup2 Then, as you can see, they let us take a photo with just Alice and Cinderella. *Just and FYI. Here, the handler takes all the autograph books from the people waiting and Cinderella signs them all at once in between photos. Just to keep the line moving I assume.

After our meet and greet with Cinderella, another CM gave Alice a wand and Buzz a sword. (Just cheap plastic, but another nice touch.) And, off we went up the cool, circular, grand staircase.princess:

I had mentioned that we were celebrating Grammie's birthday when I made the ADR and was glad I did. On our table was some castle and coach confetti and it made the table look quite lovely. I know it is hard to tell in this pic, but it was much prettier than the other tables. So, be sure to mention any special occasions.
Copy2ofDSCN1253_0074_326.jpg

After we sat down, our server came and took our drink orders, iced tea for me, diet coke for Grammie, chocolate milk for Buzz and juice for Alice. A group appetizer was brought to our table. I'm sorry that I don't have a photo, but if memory serves me correcty, there was some salad, cheese, salami, chicken with a sauce and some grapes. I noticed that the family of 4 next to us didn't touch theirs, but we loved it and didn't leave anything on the plate!popcorn::

Our waiter came back to take our food order. He was fabulous! He referred to us girls as princesses and Buzz as the young prince. And when I asked about substituting (Buzz wanted the fish of the day, but it was a complete meal and didn't come with a dessert) he replied that the young prince could get whatever he wished. Anyway, we had terrific service from him the whole meal.:thumbsup2

The princesses are announced over the loudspeaker and all come out at once and begin circulating throughout the restaurant. Before our food came, we met:
Belle (my favorite)
Copy2ofDSCN1256_0071_323.jpg

Snow White
Copy2ofDSCN1258_0069_321.jpg

And then right after our food arrived, before we even taken a bite:
Aurora
Copy2ofDSCN1260_0067_319.jpg

Jasmine
Copy2ofDSCN1261_0066_318.jpg

The princesses were all very gracious. However, Alice wasn't in her usual chatty mood. I think she was overwhelmed by being with so many princesses at once. So, she didn't say much which is very unlike her. And, of course, Buzz is not into princesses. So, they didn't spend a lot of time at our table, except for Belle and that was because Buzz and I were talking to her about books. :rotfl: Anyway, it did not feel rushed at all but still moved fairly quickly.

Once we done with the characters, it was on to the food.

Now, what you've been waiting for:

Grammie and I got the Major Domo's Favorite pie (shredded beef simmered in rich cabernet sauce, served with mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables, crowning a light pastry - from allears)
Copy2ofDSCN1259_0068_320.jpg

This was delicious! Probably my 2nd favorite entree of the week after the mahi mahi at Coral Reef. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this.

Buzz got the fish of the day which was salmon and came with 3 sides (rice, yogurt parfait and green beans).
Copy2ofDSCN1263_0064_316.jpg

Buzz - I liked the salmon and the yogurt parfait and ate all of them. I didn't like the green beans. I ate some rice.

Alice had the hot dog meal which came with chicken noodle soup, green beans and mashed potatoes. She really liked the soup and ate most of it and ate about 1/2 the hot dog.
Copy2ofDSCN1262_0065_317.jpg

After we had met the princesses and gotten our food, there was a wishing ceremony. They had given the kids stars and they had to close their eyes and make a wish and when they opened them the ceiling was all cool and twinkly. Here are a couple pics:

Copy2ofDSCN1264_0063_315.jpg

Copy2ofDSCN1265_0062_314.jpg

After our yummy meal, we were pretty full but of course we soldiered on.:rotfl:
Grammie and I got the chocolate buckle. This was chocolate cream cheese cake with chocolate ice cream. It was very good. If I hadn't had the chocolate wave at CR, I would have said it was delicious. Sorry, not the best pic:
Copy2ofDSCN1270_0058_310.jpg

Buzz asked for the raspberry sorbet which was listed on both the adult and child menu. To his delight, they brought out an adult sized portion. (I don't know if they do this all the time as kids probably don't choose it as much or if it was an exception.)
Copy2ofDSCN1268_0059_311.jpg

Buzz - It was delicious. I ate it all.

Alice had the typical sundae, only here it is served with a twist - a chocolate crown on top!
Copy2ofDSCN1267_0060_312.jpg

Also, much to our surprise, they brought out 2 cupcakes and wished Grammie and the young prince a happy birthday. :confused3 I don't know where the mix-up came from but we graciously said thank-you. They must have been wondering why a 9 year old boy picked CRT for his birthday. :lmao: Anyway, Buzz, the bottomless pit, ate his cupcake too. While Grammie and Alice had a couple bites of the other one. Here is a not so good pic of a cupcake:
Copy2ofDSCN1266_0061_313.jpg

Thoughts:
I was a bit skeptical going into this one, but it was fabulous. The food and service were top notch. And who can beat the ambience of eating in a castle?

Rating:
Food 5/5
Service 5/5
Atmosphere 5/5
Character interaction 4/5

Buzz is spending the night at Grammie's tonight as they are participating in the Walk for Diabetes in Boston tomorrow. So, I will try to get in a couple of mini-updates as I don't want to do any TS reviews without him.:goodvibes

After eating at CRT, we checked out a couple more attractions at the MK and then decided we were tired and wanted to head back to the resort to relax. On the way out we walked through some of the shops on Main Street. We did this mainly to cool off in the AC, but when we got to the candy store Grammie and the kids wanted to stop and look around. Who can blame them!

While Grammie was picking out her goodies (she was loving being able to have more sugar this week!) I took a few very random pics.

Alice wistfully thinking about giant lollipops while knowing that mom will never go for it.

If memory serves me correctly, we left with some fudge and taffy that Grammie and Buzz picked out as well as 1 package each of Fun Dip for the kids. You know, where you lick the stick and then stick it into the sugar? I loved those as a kid  although they don't look very appealing anymore.
We munched on our goodies throughout the week. Definitely worth a stop to satisfy a sweet tooth. :thumbsup2

Your kids are adorable! I am really enjoying the reviews and love hearing Buzz give us his opinions also. I loved seeing Alice all dressed up and looking a bit in awe of the princesses. Looking forward to more!

Thanks! Buzz loves getting compliments.:flower3: Alice really was very funny with the princesses. Much more prim and proper than she usually is. She practically assaulted Pooh & Friends LOL but I guess being with royalty was very humbling. :)

Great pics and reviews! Looking forward to the rest! :)
Thanks and welcome aboard! :goodvibes

great photos of the food!
Thanks! With each trip I get a little bit better at remembering to photograph the food. :thumbsup2
