Has anyone downloaded the new Libby app from Overdrive?
Have been very happy with Overdrive for Audio books and Kindle books from Library (FREE!!). Last night there was a message about Libby, which was created by Overdrive.

Wondering if it is worth taking up the memory space to host another app (have been deleting apps I don't use).

I've downloaded it and it works great. I thought Libby was eventually taking the place of Overdrive, but could be wrong. I just use it instead of Overdrive nowl

I downloaded the Libby app on my android tablet.love using it to get library books

It's been available from my library for a month or so but I'm afraid to mess with it because I've got Overdrive mastered. Can you tell me a little bit about how it works compared to Overdrive?
TIA :wave2:

I have used the Libby app since it came out & I love it!! So much easier to use than Overdrive

It’s pretty easy and basically the same as Overdrive! You just link your library and card. I just like the layout much better. Seems cleaner and more up to date.

I love Libby and find it superior to Overdrive! I love that I can read books right on the app or send them to my Kindle account. Also, it tells you specifics about your holds, such as exactly what place you are in line and how long it will take for the hold to come through. I figured out Overdrive but it was very confusing. This is WAAAYY better.

Thanks. Do you know if you can use both apps or is it one or the other and can you read current loans in both? I’d dislike giving it a try just to find my Overdrive disabled and all my 1/2 read books with it. :wave2:

I downloaded Libby this weekend and love it. Just checked and my Overdrive is still working and it lists the book I just put a hold on in the Libby app. So they seem to be communicating with each other.

From my understanding, Libby is just an upgraded, more user-friendly version of Overdrive. Our library director mentioned it at our last trustees meeting (I was just elected to the Library Board of Trustees). Libby is just the new front-end of Overdrive, which I believe will eventually completely take the place of Overdrive.

I'm glad I found this thread! I saw the Libby ad too,and was wondering...... my Overdrive has been acting wonky this week....maybe I'll try it and see if it improves..... I love my digital books!

I use both Libby and overdrive. Overdrive is on my computer and I use it to download audio books on to an MP3 player. Libby I use to play audio books in the car.
