I just got an email from Libby Lu stating all their stores will close by the end of January. So if you have gift cards, you might want to hurry in and use them. History has shown that when stores close, at some point the gift cards might become useless. Maybe so, maybe not. :confused3

Wow, that was fast.
The local store (1/2 hr away) opened less that 2 yrs ago.
DD has only been in it once for a quick peek.

Do you think they'll have some good clearances?

I got the email yesterday from Libby Lu and hesitated telling my daughter. So, I broke it to her gently. She was bummed, but the first thing out of her mouth was "Can we go on a shopping spree" .... My reply "Ah no" However, I did promise that we would visit before the doors closed.

Side note: when we were there last week, they had a whole wall of clearance stuff. I just thought it a "out with the old, in with the new" type of thing... Now, I wonder!

I have to admit, this doesn't break my heart. I'm sorry for the people who work there, but I hate that place with a passion, and of course, have two little girls who think it's wonderful.

Ours just opened less than 6 months ago. :confused3

My DD was initially disappointed, but she got over it quickly. :)

My little Libby loves Libby Lu - I will have to get her there before it closes....

Oh no! My 9 year old will be so sad!!! (Me...yeah, not so much :rolleyes1 ) They just built a big new Libby Lu in prime mall space in our mall last year. Maybe the economy hit them hard. I know with less cash in my pocket, I didnt run in there like I normally would.

I got the email too, but thought just their VIP club was ending. Not the stores closing--at least I hope not!!

My Scout troop did an outing to the one in Natick Mass last week and we heard then. They do have some good deals in the store right now and are having a "spin to win" promotion. I got a fashion sketch book, Wizards of Waverey place book, HSM3 Sharpay make up set and some body Glitter for under $20. (so basically throw in some candy and there is most of DD s:santa: tocking).

I'm not sad to see them go.

As a regular attendee at Disneyland's Downtown Disney, the Libby Lu store is near the Build-a-Bear.

I'm sure if I posted here what we call Libby Lu, I'd get banned or at the least, some points. It does start with "Build-A-....." however.

I just am a bit too old-fashioned and as I love dress-up, I don't think it is very proper to have young ladies place such an emphasis on looks, money, and sexiness.

Again, my experience is limited to the DL DTD area, and I know they treat the young girls differently in other areas, having seen some very cute photos of friend's girls done elsewhere.

Here, they put pale blue eye shadow, nearly clear lip shimmery gloss and sheer nail polish. You have to be within a foot of them to see the eye shadow. :rotfl: Most of the girls go with the fairy, princess or ballerina theme when they're young and switch to the rock star as they get older. Our store quickly figured out they'd best stock lots of the tops that covered everything up. :lmao: So it's a fair bet to say ours is on the more conservative side.

I was going to purchase a gift card for there and then try to get DD there (about a 3 hr round trip for us). Now not so sure.

Gonna have to get to Libby Lu before it closes and have a makeover again. It was fun the first time when I did it with my Brownies this past spring.
