Liar Liar, pants on fire!

Just back last night from 5 awesome days at WDW. While I was shocked at the crowd levels (cross Jersey Week off of our "potential vacation days") we were still able to finish off each oark in a single day. Has anyone else noticed that the listed wait time is never as long as the actual wait? I did stay away from posted wait times in excess of 30 minutes, but in general I found that all waits were about half of the posted time.

Example:
30 minutes=15
20 minutes=10 or less
10 minues=5 min or a walk on
5 minutes= walk on

I have noticed that about wait times. It seems smart to overshoot vs. undershoot the estimated time though. Can you imagine if they posted 20 min. but the wait was 45 min.???? It would make for crabby people!

I thought the same of Jersey week a few years ago.

I noticed that the stated wait times were always too long, too, when we were at Epcot on Sunday. Soarin' said 55 minutes when in actuality we only waited about 20. TT said 30 minutes and we waited about 15.

We were in EPCOT on Sunday & saw that the board said 20 min. wait for Soarin'. We knew what that meant --- NO WAIT!! So we went over & sure enough, walked right on. The only wait was the standard pre-boarding film.

We found that to be the case most of the time on our recent trip. However, one time at Soarin' the wait said 20 minutes and it was 60 minutes. Yes, there were many crabby people!

Usually it's always less time. However this past Aug. at least twice it was the opposite on us. We usually FP RNR & TT. RNR said 10 min so we thought what the heck we'll just get in line. DH didn't ride and he said they changed the number to 30 just after we got in line then they upped it to 45. We were in there for an hour. We weren't very happy campers but nothing we could do about it. It just happens. Same thing happened on TT later only worse.

We noticed the same thing during our end of Sept. trip. You can usually shave about 30-40% of the time off of the posted time.

If Twilight Zone or the Haunted Mansion has a wait time of 13 minutes, it's a walk on.

EXCEPT:

On a Saturday morning at 11:00 am at MK during Gay Days. lol. The posted wait time for Splash was 20 minutes, but it was more like 90! (Mom was right, my dd insisted that it was going to be 20.) When a BIG crowd builds up, remember it takes the length of the line to record the increase!

Me too. I'd be crabby too. Unless, of course, if there happened to be a breakdown of the ride which caused the delay. Still, they should make an announcement tho, whenever that happens.

When we have taken tours the CMs always tell us they pad the numbers with 5 minutes.

fyi, they get the wait times by giving someone this plastic card that you wear around your neck. When you get to the front of the line, you give it to the cm and they scan it. That is how they get the wait time. So if the wait time states say 20 minutes but it takes the next person 40 minutes to get to the front of the line, you won't have an "accurate" wait time.

We were there once where it said 13 minutes and HM was a 30 minute wait. THAT was annoying because you know they were just doing the 13 to be cute, not accurate!! I don't mind cuteness when there's no wait, but when there is, they should be accurate(ish)!
