Can anyone share their experiences of selling lia sophia jewerly? Thanks! :goodvibes

Not a seller, but as a prospective customer and consultant...I have been invited to the parties but I have not been able to attend any of them. The consultant was a good friend of mine and she said I would make a "perfect" consultant. I skipped on that opportunity because I just don't have that many friends.

I do have to say, I was very impressed with the items in the catalog and the pieces I have seen on the wrist and necks are very nice.

I know there are folks that can really make a good income from these purchase parties. I hope you are one of the them.

I sold Lia Sophia for just under a year about 4 years ago. I found that while I loved the jewelry, people came to parties just to support their friend and would very often talk about the price point of the product. It is very expensive for what it is...costume jewelry. I know they have a lifetime guarantee but I have VERY few pieces that have not fallen apart.

The most difficult part was keeping the parties going. I am NOT an aggressive person when it came to asking people to book a party. I ended up with a nice selection of jewelry at the time but I most recently sold off most of my pieces that were still wearable for $5 a piece.

My suggestion to you is to research several different companies before you decide that LS is the one for you. The problems I had with parties happen with most direct sales endeavors. I have been successful in 2 other companies after LS (one being a different jewelry company) but have since ended both due to finding a much better paying job. :worship:

ETA: This thread has been going around for a couple of days...check it out for some other's perspective on a similar question. But keep in mind this forum is just one perspective...people saving their $$ for Disney :)

I responded to another thread by a Lia Sophia rep who was looking for advice because her business has stalled. The overwhelming response on that thread was that Direct Sales are hard, and the jewelry market is even harder. It is oversaturated, and LS jewelry is expensive costume jewelry. I went to 1 LS party 8 years ago, and hosted 1 party. All the stuff I bought either broke or turned green after less than a year. I got similar complaints from my friends who also bought LS jewelry.

There are much better and more fun ways to earn extra money, but if you are set on Direct Sales, find a product that is new, consumable (you have to buy refills) and doesn't have many reps in your area.

I normally do not like mlm. I also attended a party a few years ago, and the consultant was talking about how they had a conference at disney and how much she made etc. I wonder if the consulant is still hosting parties (I forget her name) and doing as well as she proclaimed? I was wondering about the average lifespan of a consultant and keeping the parties going must get hard.

honestly? it is a hard sell type of 'party'.... I don't like it. The intent is not to sell a piece of (overpriced) jewelry, it's to book new shows. I have been to a couple of parties where the consultant basically strong arms people into saying 'yes' to giving a party...very uncomfortable for the whole room. Even for those of us who have absolutely no problem saying 'NO':thumbsup2 for those who are uncomfortable with that word, well, it's always an unhappy experience. I don't go to them anymore.
Reality is most of the costume jewelry at these parties can be found easily on sale at Kohls, etc for much, much, less.
...That said, I do like the earrings, and I look for them 2nd hand at this point, because for some reason this brand is the only kind I can tolerate wearing.(yes, even gold and silver don't work for me) All the other items are just like costume jewelry anywhere...pretty..but can be gotten anywhere.

The quality of Lia Sophia is terrible. I've received items that were broken already... Everything I've had has broken in a matter of months.

99% of all people who investing in multi-level marketing schemes lose money. The rare success story gets publicized as proof that you can make money doing this, but it's practically a no-win situation.

Nailed it. Almost all of these type of direct marketing schemes are designed to make money for the people who sell the jewelry to the person sponsering the party.

A few years ago on the ShowTime series Bull***T by Penn and Teller they covered several of these "businesses" and the person at the end of the line almost always lost money.
