We are flying into the LGB airport. We have 3 kids and need transportation to Paradise Pier. Who would you recommend for transportation that won't cost an arm and a leg? Also the kids will be 8, 7, and 4. Do they provide car seats? Or are we supposed to plane check our own for the short ride to the hotel? Last time we drove to California so that wasn't an issue. Trying to be prepared. Thanks much :)

The easiest, fastest, and cheapest way is by taxi. Once you get your luggage just walk across the street to the cab stand and tell the attendant that you need a taxi van (they are the same price as the taxi cars). It should cost roughly $45 each way. You would have to bring your own booster seats, we have always been able to check them at no extra cost, although you might want to double check with your airline. Another option we have done is lansky/dk livery. They are a private service that will provide booster seats, as well as give you a 20 minute stop at a grocery store on your way to the hotel. I think it was around $160 round trip and we had a good experience with them.

if bringing 3 boosters sounds too much there is an inflatable booster seat that you can get. its called the bubble butt.. I Have seen them in Walmart and online..

we used to always just bring our booster and yes it was free,, to check.. just make sure its labeled and in a plastic bag.. sometimes the airline will supply these..
when you get to the LB at the taxi rank ask for a van and a flat rate..

Hope you have a great time

I'm not sure what we did wrong with the taxi situation last time, but we got a good rate on the way TO the hotel, but could not get a good rate on the way back to the airport. I thought I had researched it well as the cheapest way, but was frustrated down there. Also, the taxi arrived at our hotel for the return trip WAY early and was super impatient with us. It was stressful and I am generally easy going. The time before we used Super Shuttle and I will just do that again. You will need to bring your own boosters.

LGB to DLR in a taxi is a $45 flat rate. The Bell Desk at PP will have vouchers for the trip back to LGB ($40 on surface streets) $50 when going on the freeway...??? not sure why that is and if you don't say anything they will take the freeway. Also, there are taxis around for your trip back to LGB, no need to schedule in advance.

Technically I think my older 2 wouldn't need booster seats right? Anyone know California booster seat law? I use them here at home but I don't think it's still required.

On Feb 9th I flew into LGB and also stayed at PPH. At the taxi stand I asked for flat rate to the hotel, it was $45.
Taxi left LGB at 9:23am. Freeway no traffic (60 to 80mph) arrived PPH at 9:55am Flat rate $45 Meter read $50

Bell Services at PPH (as well as the other two hotels) will have a voucher with flat rates listed.
On the list there are two options for going to LGB. 1. the freeway $50 and 2. Ball Road $40

When I was ready to head to LGB the next afternoon, I gave the voucher to the taxi driver and told him I wanted to go to LGB for the $40 rate.
He told me it would take longer going Ball Road and was concerned I might miss my flight. It was around 2:30pm and my flight was 6pm.
I told him I had plenty of time. He again said it would take longer... followed by a long pause ....

So I told him I don't care which way he goes, I will only pay the $40. He took the freeway no traffic issues.
We left PPH at 2:38pm and arrived LGB 3:08pm
Flat rate $40 Meter read $54.80

Has anyone used Uber or Lyft?

Last time I was in San Diego, I had great success with Lyft.:car:

This is good to know. We didn't know about the vouchers for the return trip and when I called to schedule they said no flat rate for return trip. I think it ended up being $75 and they had estimated $50-55 when I called. I was pretty irritated, but didn't fight them about it.
