We have had our LG washing machine for about 5 years now. It works fine and we've had only minor issues with it.
However just after the warranty expired we started having some issues with it. I don't remember what they were, but I do remember we started trying to find someone to come out and repair it. We called many places only to be told every time that they did not repair LG washers. Finally in frustration I asked a guy why it was so hard to find a repairman. He said that LG appliances work great, but if they ever need service they are VERY expensive to repair. As in, they are the more expensive by far than any other appliance out there. He was nice enough to give us some suggestions on what the problem might be and recommended that in the future we stay away from LG just because of the service issues.
In our case we were lucky enough to solve the problem on our own without a repairman. Hopefully this one will last us many more years, but when it gives out we'll look to replace it rather than repair it.
