Letting Disney Do The Flights?

We're taking a mediterranean cruise this July and are having a really hard time with flights-- it seems like every one we find has three or four flight changes and that's just way too many opportunities for lost luggage and such.:headache:

Has anybody booked their flights through Disney before? Did you all get to sit together? How many stops were there? Would you book through Disney again?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

With Disney you will not get to choose your flights, or you connections. You get what they give you and you will pay more.

Fly in the day before at least to allow cusion time.

Where are you flying from? If you can get to Newark, Philly, NYC non stop than you should be able to find a flight to barcelona that will be non stop from one of those cities.

You should be able to at least only have 2 stops, not 3-4.

Tips:

1. Make your connections in the states not in other countries, less customs and such.

2. look for layovers of at least 1 hr and half.

Personally, if you can find something to make do on your own I would only because it is cheaper.

If you HAVE to fly in the day the ship leaves, then do book it through Disney because then they will work with you to get to the next port if you happen to miss your ship.

We let DCL book our flights and for our Med cruise last May and there were definitely pros and cons to it.
Pros:
-They monitored the flights (or at least they said they did)
-They got us on board even though our flight was delayed until after the all aboard time.
-There was someone waiting for us at the airport
-On debarkation day, they took care of a lot for us.

Cons:
-You don't get to choose your flight.
-They don't follow their own guidelines when it comes to booking the flight- we were scheduled on a flight than landed less than an hour before all aboard time and of course it was delayed. (This is partially my fault. My husband is in the military and because of his schedule we had to fly in day of. In their defense they did get us on board.) The also booked us on a 10am debarkation day flight.
- The DCL people are almost always friendly when you call. I noticed the flight people were not as friendly or patient when I called... Even if I just had a quick question.

We got there and that's what mattered... I might use them again but I definitely wouldn't fly in day of again. (That was my biggest mistake.) Regardless, it was an amazing cruise and you'll have a wonderful time! :goodvibes

Normally I would agree with much of the above. I don't use DCL air within the US. Last year, I got MUCH better prices on my own. This year, I'll do BCN with DCL air as their prices are really great compared to what I can find.

Last year, people had great connections with DCL air--better than I got for myself. However, you do lose any/all control of your flight choices.

We went to the Med in 2007. Live near Cleveland and went on Delta to Atlanta then direct to Barcelona. I usually call a travel agent and see what they come up with and then check against Disney. In the case of the Med cruise, made reservations myself. Kayak.com is a good tool too to get you started.

Absolutely true this year!!!

The deviation fee is $75 per person, and even with that, they are still the best price I've found for Barcelona!

I'm still waiting to hear from them, though to make sure that the price will remain stable (the same with just the fee added) if we change the dates to fly in early....which is always a good idea!!!
